Ottawa-based and Black-owned fashion company Mercussi Private Label recently launched an exclusive collection of face masks. Inspired by COVID restrictions and current trends, Marc Cimeus, who acts as the owner and founder of the label, decided to add his personal touch to each face mask with distinctive custom designs.
“I’ve seen them around and I remember thinking, ‘I’d like that’, but I’d definitely want a little more on it,” explained Cimeus.
His “passion for fashion” fuelled him to not only build the collection but the company itself.
He added, “Back in high school, I used to design my own skinny jeans and ripped jeans. I would distress denim for other people,”.
Aside from the line of face masks, a denim collection will soon be available which will include a pair of jeans and a stylized jean jacket. The final product will be personalized by Cimeus himself by applying vinyl pieces in the shape of lightning bolts, which also serves as the initial company logo.
Since its release, the masks have sold out a few times but the company has been able to remain steady and consistent with its restocking. Coming in a variety of colours, such as blue, yellow, pink, and much more, the masks are remarkably comfortable while remaining breathable. Mercussi also sells other items such as tees, sweaters and hoodies that promote their own design and that cater towards men and women alike.
Cimeus also has some new projects in the works, from a collection for children to matching pouches that customers can to attach to their pants, and you can be sure there are even more concepts and ideas on the way.
