Liv gives college life a chance while tensions are rising in the GAU locker room. Here’s our All American season 5 episode 18 recap.
Jaymee and Asher’s decision
The episode opens with the girls having breakfast at the Bakers waiting for Jaymee who shares the news about her pregnancy. At the same time we see Asher meeting Jordan and Spencer, who already heard the news but play along anyway.
Asher meets Jaymee’s sister Kaycee in an awkward meet cute. Kaycee thinks they are too young to have a baby and is very skeptical of Asher. They plan to have dinner but when Jaymee leaves to rest, Kaycee talks to Asher about how she’s concerned about Jaymee’s health and doesn’t understand how he signed off on Jaymee no longer taking her meds which is a complete surprise to him. Kaycee chalks it up to him not being prepared to care for Jaymee and the baby. Asher is then seen looking up what can happen without the lupus medication and accuses Jaymee of being reckless. Jaymee becomes upset that he’s inserting himself in decisions about her body again. She tells him he’s no longer to be involved with her and the decisions she has to make. He’s upset and goes to Layla for advice. Jordan and Layla are the perfect team reminding Asher to love Jaymee and remember why he fell for her in the first place. Jaymee makes a decision to move her and Asher forward.
Olivia gives college life a shot
Olivia shares that she is headed to the Spring club fair because she needs to embrace college life. Olivia tries signing up for a sorority but is shut down because they don’t trust her knowing now that she’s “Jadyn”. She eventually sees Davita who is struggling to get the BSU fashion show together. Olivia offers to help and later thinks she might want to be a part of the club. Davita tells her that they do a lot of activities including a summer cultural exchange internship that could take her anywhere in the world. She’s not sure she’s ready for that.
Coop stands up for herself
Coop is back in class representing her group in closing arguments. Professor Hill is picking on her for her lack of legal vocabulary and her posture. She feels singled out and talks to Skye who is supporting her and overcompensating because of the guilt she feels for her “entanglement” with Patience. Coop appreciates her support. Skye receives an anonymous text with the video of her kissing Patience. Later, Coop confronts Professor HIll, stands up for herself and the Professor promises to not pick on her again. Instead he chooses someone else to do the final argument. That causes Skye to get protective and is willing to fight for Coop to be treated fairly. Coop declares her love for Skye but later their relationship takes a turn.
Tension in the locker room
Jordan is fighting a cold but ends up at practice. Unfortunately, the team is having an off practice. They’ve been off all week and the team isn’t gelling. Evan is still blaming ‘Jadyn Davis’ and calls out Olivia for the article that ruined the team. Spencer is ready to defend her but backs down because Evan calls him out for leaving the team too. Coach Kenny is frustrated because he was expecting Spencer to lead and thinks he shouldn’t have backed down but Spencer acknowledges he’s still grieving and is working on not overreacting. He promises that he’ll step up.
Spencer talks to Alicia about how he could bring the team together. She suggests having a pool night at the Baker house. It doesn’t go well. He then talks to his mom who gives him her Mama Grace wisdom encouraging him to try to bring the team together using the conflict, while working on how they relate to each other. When Spencer bumps into Liv, she shares that all the male models have dropped out because of the flu and he offers to help her out by getting the GAU boys to model. When the GAU boys meet with Liv and Spencer, tensions are high but with apologies and a recognition that everyone is there for GAU’s success-and some beautiful women- the boys are ready to bond and help out the BSU with their fashion show.
The fashion show is a beautiful mix of dancing and West African clothes on display. Davita loses her showstopper dance leads to the flu. Kia makes a guest appearance offering to dance and suggests Liv and Spencer take the lead. They show off their moves and their undeniable chemistry leaving Alicia speechless. Olivia ends up having an amazing time and thinks she’s ready to apply for that internship.
Then came the moment Spelivia fans everywhere were waiting for. Spencer comes home to find Alicia packing up her things at the beach house. She calls Spencer out on his feelings and he’s not denying it. It’s clear Spencer and Olivia have some unfinished business.
