ALL AMERICAN SEASON 5 EPISODE 20 RECAP

all american season 5 episode 20

Love is in the air for The Vortex and Liv prepares for her trip to London. Here’s our All American season 5 episode 20 recap.

The episode opens with Spencer dreaming about his friends speaking to him in British accents, freaking him out. After he wakes up, we then see the James family having breakfast where we meet Nikki, Dillon’s new (and slightly odd) girlfriend. Dillon reminds Spencer that together him and Liv are “fuego” but it’s clear Spencer is having trouble letting Olivia go. He insists she’s just his friend and shares he has some special plans for her last day before she leaves for London. Dillon reminds Spencer to be honest with her.

Spencer then meets Liv to get her special day started. Before they go, he presents her with a quilt with patches that are memories of her dad. He then takes her to Beverly High and recreates their first sushi date. He presents her with his homemade big book of British terms to help her on her trip and takes her on a trip down memory lane of their the first time they met.

Jordan misses his dad

Monthly breakfast is also taking place at the Baker residence in Crenshaw where Billy’s absence is really felt. Jordan questions why they are continuing the new tradition without Billy and Laura tries to keep the conversation going by talking about her experience in Coop’s classroom. The possibility of teaching comes back but Laura isn’t sure. Jordan is struggling with his father not being present and leaves the house abruptly. Jordan is back at Crenshaw High and chats with Preach who reminds him how Billy impacted him and provides a listening ear for Jordan if he wants it.

Meanwhile, Jordan goes back to see Layla who is putting together pictures for Liv. Jordan is really missing his dad and Layla suggests that maybe he should take Preach up on his offer to have a male figure to talk to. Jordan then reveals that she was his first crush when they were kids.

Coop makes a not so tough decision

Back at the girls place, Layla updates Patience on the latest surrounding Miko. Patience is concerned that she might hurt herself but Layla reminds her that it’s not her problem anymore. Patience later talks to Coop about her relationship with Skye, not wanting the video to break them up. Coop then meets up with Skye who is thinking they can get past it but Coop isn’t feeling it and breaks it off. She later speaks with Spencer and shares that she was actually more concerned with Patience kissing Skye because she doesn’t want Patience kissing anyone else. She still has feelings for her.

A proposal on the way?

A ring emerges at the beach house and JJ is questioning the boys. They all think it’s Asher’s, but JJ accuses Jordan and Spencer who is quiet and confesses he’s just friends with Liv. Jaymee spies the ring and is shocked. She heads over to talk to Layla about what she thinks Asher is going to do. She loves Asher but isn’t about marriage.

When she gets back to the beach house, Asher’s father is there and they sit down to share their news with him. He doesn’t take it well and believes they aren’t ready and questions the baby’s paternity. Jaymee is turned off and leaves them. Asher was hoping that they had actually made progress but in the end he doesn’t want him involved in their future. A chat with JJ helps change his mind. JJ reminds him that they are nothing like their parents and will be different. Asher invites his father back and sets boundaries with him and for his new family. He vows to be a better father.

Bye, bye Liv

Spencer leads Olivia to the Beach house where all their friends surprise her. Layla wants details on how the day is going and she shares that she’s enjoying the day but can tell Spencer is likely not trying to go too deep with how he’s feeling but she clearly wants more from him.

JJ suggests a beach football game and they are all having a great time until Layla breaks the rules and catches Jordan off guard causing him to abruptly end the game. When Layla finds him he blows up at her. Jordan reaches out to Preach to share how he’s feeling. Preach reminds him he’s living life and asks him if he wants to be right or happy when dealing with Layla. He encourages him to stop being an idiot because life is too short.

The group gathers to say goodbye to Liv. Each friend shares what they’ll miss and how Liv’s been a good friend with Spencer ending the toasts. He doesn’t say much and then says even less as she makes her final exit to the airport.

Jordan asks Spencer if he said a proper goodbye to Liv and when he says he wished her safe travels, Jordan shares his reflections on the night Billy died. He wishes he could have that night back and said he had so much more to say. He encourages Spencer to tell the people he loves what needs to be said before it’s too late.

Love is in the air

Spencer races off to the airport, tries to buy a flight and ends up catching Liv before boarding. He confesses his love for her and promises to be there when she gets back. She was waiting for him to speak up about them all day and relishes in his final words.

Jordan takes his own advice and confesses his love for Layla in a surprise proposal. After the day he and Layla had, it seems like she hesitates but says yes.

Asher talks to Jaymee who admits she doesn’t want to be married but wants to spend her life with him. Asher presents her with a letter from the doctor revealing that they are having a boy!

After Liv and Spencer’s moment in the airport, Coop is ready to talk to Patience but before she can find her, Miko pops up at the Baker mansion and confronts Patience.

All American resumes this fall on The CW.
