all american season 6 episode 2

Tensions rise between Jordan and Spencer, Liv writes a new book, and Jaymee and Asher adjust to parenthood. Here’s our All American Season 6 Episode 2 recap.

Asher and Jaymee adjust to parenthood

The gang’s all together again at a Beach house bonfire but when it’s time for Baby AJ to go to bed we see some real conversations coming to light. Olivia is clearly avoiding Jordan, Spencer is trying to push them together and Coop sees an opportunity to support Patience being alone for the night. Plans soon change when AJ’s non stop crying leads Asher to send the boys to their girls’ house, which is turn sends Jaymee into a guilt ridden spiral. She’s worried about them being good parents and having to ask for help all the time that she suggests they just try to get through the teething stage without help. Asher seeks out Mrs. Baker who has been a great support to them and asks her to help them out with a place to live. She says Grandpa Willy’s house has been empty for too long and allows them this space to breathe.

Ryan to the rescue

Coop’s support of Patience continues with her and Layla suggesting she take up self-defense because Miko being out and about is affecting Patience. She doesn’t want to feel like a victim but wants to feel strong in her situation. In the end, Ryan is the one who offers sage advice and the hands-on support to give Patience what she needs.

Jordan’s fed up

Back at the Baker house, the two couples are sorting out their problems. Jordan has been in wedding prep mode and wants Layla and him to move in together. Neither of these have been a top priority to his soon-to-be bride, but we later find out that Layla is a traditionalist not wanting to move in before marriage.

Meanwhile, Jordan finally understands why Liv was behaving odd with him when she reveals she’s writing a book about their dad. He’s afraid it might get too personal and isn’t trusting of her especially since she’s gone ahead and made a deal with a publisher. Not to mention that being in Spencer’s shadow on the field is causing him to rethink his game which is further fueled by the whisperings of Coach Mac.

Olivia’s book is cause for concern. She’s stressed to have to tell her mom but she’s really seeking everyone’s help and permission beforehand to make sure the story is told with respect.. Laura trusts Liv to handle telling Billy’s story and Jordan comes around, telling her he wants her to feel like this is home again.

Spencer’s dream

Meanwhile, Spencer is reeling from all the media attention he’s getting. He and Olivia think about what Billy’s advice would be. Olivia encourages Spencer to think about himself and his future especially with talks of the NFL draft. Mama Grace says the same thing, reminding her son of his dreams.

After the first game of the season, the media attention shifts to Jordan. After feeling jealous of Jordan’s time in the spotlight, Spencer announces he is entering the NFL draft. He says this was his attempt to get the media off his back, which is a bit of a lie, and while his family is happy, he’s now an open target for more attention. The episode concludes with Olivia challenging Spencer to think about what’s to come. So much growth and change happened when she was away and the same changes lie ahead for Spencer. He will have to answer: Does he have what it takes?

All American airs Mondays at 8pm on the CW.
