Khalil celebrates his 18th birthday with an unexpected guest and the Jeremy family secret is finally revealed. Here’s our All American Season 7 Episode 11 recap.

Call me a glazer, but the writers and producers of All American cooked with this episode. Secrets were revealed, characters like Deion returned, and there were some unexpected, and expected, twists and turns.

I actually think I’m enjoying this generation of All American more than the previous one. It seems crazy to even say that. Yes, the previous generation had the upper hand in how it was centered around a diverse group of friends. But now, it feels like a completely different show. As a Black person, I’m finding the stories on this season more relatable to my life. It’s also nice to see how Jordan, Layla, and Coop, and even Spencer, Liv, and Patience adjust to adulthood. And Nathaniel McIntyre, Alexis Chikaeze, and Antonio J. Bell are doing an excellent job. They, and the characters they portray, are people who you want to see win.

Now, let’s a look at what happened on All American Season 7 Episode 11.

Cassius’ secret

The episode opens with KJ looking for answers. Cassius finally shares that grandpa Jeremy is Billy Baker’s brother and that they have a plan to destroy the Bakers’ legacy, and to prove that the Jeremy line is the superior line. KJ is upset that Cassius uprooted him from Oakland just to get back at the Bakers. He’s also upset that his father promised to never lie to him. It turns out Cassius knew about being related to the Baker his whole life. Cassius returns to the hotel room to find KJ packing his bags. KJ is angry because Cassius was his hero. Instead he’s a “second rate Killmonger”. Cassius asks KJ to trust him, but it looks like it’s too late.

Amina leaving?

Back at home, Amina thanks Coop for letting KJ crash at their house. Amina asks Coop about her father trying to send her away. Coop says that her dad was hyping her up to the admissions director and that the school is a feeder to her dream school—Stanford. In the end, Amina goes to the admissions website. It looks like she’s ready to apply.

Amina is opening an admission letter to a boarding school. Before she can gather her thoughts on her father potentially trying to send her away, KJ shows up heartbroken over his father lying to him his whole life.

Cassius’ decision

When KJ and Amina pull up to the Hangout, KJ’s mom is waiting there. Amina called her knowing KJ needed her. KJ tells his mom everything. After learning about his father and grandfather’s plan, he wanted to leave and head back to Oakland, but he couldn’t turn his back on his team.

KJ’s mom pulls up to the hotel and slaps Cassius across his face. She pieced together why he was putting distance between them; why he changed from the man she loved. He says he was trying to protect her. As far as she’s concerned, she and KJ are done with Cassius. When the school year is done, she wants KJ to move back to Oakland with her.

KJ calls a team meeting with his dad, mom, and grandfather. His granddad sees KJ as an extension of his legacy, but KJ’s mom and dad think otherwise. His granddad reveals that Billy had reached out to him to make things right, which is news to Cassius. Cassius tells his father that he used to be his hero, but he’s nothing but an unhealed man. In turn, his father calls him his biggest disappointment.

With KJ gone, Cassius thanks KJ’s mother for being there for KJ, but she was there for him too. She congratulates him for choosing his son over his father. Cassius wants to know what this means for them as a couple, but one step at a time.

Later, when KJ returns to the hotel, Cassius vows to win his trust again.

Khalil’s birthday

At the Baker house, Khalil is celebrating his 18th birthday. Later, Jordan surprises Khalil with a surprise party and a visit from his longtime friend Deion who went away for school. Unfortunately, Deion isn’t happy that Khalil seems to have feelings for Amina. When she gives him a heartfelt gift, Deion is even more upset. Now that he’s 18 years old, Khalil is thinking about moving out on his own instead of mooching off the Bakers.

KJ shows up to the party unexpectedly. When Amina figures out that Jordan is somehow involved in KJ’s secret, she gives him some advice on how to navigate his whole situation.

The good-ish vibes are done when his father, Marqui, fresh from the pen, shows up at the party. Coop learns that the charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence. When Jordan steps to him, Khalil confirms that he doesn’t want to go with his father.

While cleaning up after the party, Deion lets Amina know that Khalil has feelings for her. She takes the time to ask him what it was like leaving for school.

Meanwhile, Khalil goes to see Jordan at Crenshaw to let him know that he’ll be moving out soon. But Jordan lets him know they want him to stay. Khalil also decides to meet his father for dinner to honor their birthday tradition. At dinner, Marqui wants to take Khalil to the strip club and then move him out of the Bakers’ house. When Khalil says that he wants to stay with the Bakers, Marqui doesn’t take it too well.

When Khalil goes back to Crenshaw, he finds someone got to Jordan. At the hospital, the family secret is revealed when Jordan needs a blood donor. The next episode sees Liv return, perhaps with a little baby bump, so you’ll want to tune in.

All American airs Mondays at 8pm on the CW.
