Tariq starts a new opportunity and Cane finds out the truth about Zeke murder. Here’s our Power Book II Ghost Season 3 Episode 2 review.
Season three, episode two marks the growth of some keys characters. Where the premiere revealed Tariq and Brayden‘s growing influence and maturity, from underlings to budding men in charge, episode two marks Monet and Cane getting out from under the thumb of Lorenzo (Berto Colon). Where he cast a dark and menacing shadow over the family in season two, the father and husband has fallen down the totem pole in his own house and business as those around him come into their own.
The episode opens with Lauren dreaming about the backstory of how she survived Effie‘s murder attempt. She wants to go back home, but Jenny Sullivan (Paton Ashbrook) is keeping her in protection until she builds her case. Jenny reveals that Tariq is a suspect which has Lauren taken aback.
Tariq, Brayden, Cane and Effie are at their drug warehouse under the supervision of Noma’s men figuring out how they will move all that weight. Brayden wants to sell to the young coke sniffing employees at the office, but Tariq shuts him down.
At the office, Brayden and Keke (Moriah Brown) get closer after Chad, one of the “trust fund interns”, makes a racist comment towards her. When Brayden sets him up to get fired, Keke gets turned on, taking him to a private floor for a secret rendezvous.

Meanwhile, Tate’s campaign is struggling after Sweeney funnels donors to the competition. Tate later gives Tariq’s internship to his classmate BruShandria Carmichael (Lightskin Keisha) because of the heat he’s facing. Brayden encourages Tariq to get an internship with the Westons at the fund instead. Brayden’s uncle defies Brayden’s dad and brings Tariq on in the name of diversity and inclusivity. After seeing the workplace coke boys using at work and at the strip club, Tariq sees the opportunity to move weight on Wall Street. We later find out Brayden paid Tate to go back on giving Tariq the internship, masterminding the whole thing.
At the same time, the Tejada family continues to be turned upside down. While things are looking up for Diana who gets a job on campus with the help of her TA, Dru randomly gets hit with pay back from GTG for wiping out their crew. After Dru and Everett break up, an angry Dru has to step in to kill Nick, the fitness trainer and Wall Street supplier.
Monet is in the spotlight as Detective Whitman (Jeff Hephner), Jenny Sullivan, and Detective Bianca Rodriguez (Monique Gabriela Curnen) piece together that Monet is the real kingpin of the drug operation.
Meanwhile, after piecing together that his father Lorenzo killed Zeke, Cane blackmails him into doing what he wants.
Overall, this episode opened some interesting storylines and character growth, including the seemingly straightlaced and responsibility Keke who isn’t that straightlaced at all, and Brayden who is becoming a smarter version of Tommy from the original Power series.
It also raises some interesting questions.
How dark will things get for a heartbroken Dru?
What will Tariq and Keke’s relationship be like?
How long will Lauren stay away?
How long will Cane keep his father’s secret? And what will Monet do when she finds out both Cane and Lorenzo lied to her?
