Lorenzo and Cane vie for power and Monet learns a bit more about Zeke’s potential killer. Here’s our Power Book II Ghost Season 3 Episode 4 review.

Things are heating up as the stakes continue to be raised with literally every episode. The question the story is looking to answer is whether the crew can rise to the occasion in pleasing a boss and supplier the likes of whom they’ve never seen before in the history of the Power Universe.

Brayden (Gianni Paolo) and Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.)‘s coffee scheme is in full effect as they move weight on Wall Street. Meanwhile, pressure is mounting on the Tejada family.

Detective Whitman (Jeff Hephner) continues to harass Monet (Mary J. Blige) and the Tejadas over the murders of Professor Carrie Milgram (Melanie Liburd) and Zeke (Daniel Bellomy)‘s deaths. Meanwhile, Monet, Diana and Dru are wondering why Cane is now calling the shots instead of Lorenzo (Berto Colon), with the two Tejada men vying to be head of the family. The Tejadas, Tariq and Brayden meet with the Castillo family after killing their Russian connect in order to meet Noma (Caroline Chikezie)‘s drug selling quota. In the end, Monet learns Lorenzo might be involved in Zeke’s murder after all after looking over a report.

With Effie (Alix Lapri) moving weight at Sandfield, Tariq and Brayden moving weight on Wall Street, and Cane (Woody McClean) and Lorenzo moving weight in the streets, the team meet Noma’s drug quota, but replacing Mecca (Daniel Sunjata) now means moving another kind of product raising the stakes once again.

After talking to her teaching assistant turned love interest Salim Ashe Freeman (Petey McGee), Diana Tejada (LaToya Tonodeo) wants to get out of the family business and make her own decisions, but Lorenzo needs her to keep moving weight. After Davis (Method Man) suggests that Diana give Monet an alibi, she meets with Detective Whitman and admits that her mom wanted her to lie to him and tells him about the books she keeps for the bar. Whitman decides to visit the Tejada home at night in search of the books, but everything isn’t as it seems.

Interview with Cooper Saxe actor, Shane Johnson

Effie, who is feeling the heat after Cane discovers that she killed Lauren, reveals her plans to eventually go legit and go to Stanford to get her PhD in robotics. Tariq eventually shares that he would want to go legit too and join her in California.

Tariq is feeling the heat as well when Brayden’s uncle, Lucas Weston (David Walton), fumbles as deal with Black billionaire RSJ. When he opts not to invest with Weston Enterprises, Tariq is tasked with making the deal happen or he loses his internship.

Finally, after suspecting her of seeing someone else, Jennifer Sullivan takes Cooper Saxe (Shane Anderson) to meet the mystery man in the form of Sargeant Bianca Rodriguez (Monique Gabriela Curnen)forming a new crime fighting trio.

This episode does a good job of delivering the unexpected as a key character is offed. It also does a good job revealing a different side of key character, including the ruthlessness of Tariq, the gentleness of Effie, and the humility of Cane as he learns that he has a lot to learn in how to lead the family.

The twists in this episode do a good job in keeping viewers on the edge of their seats; not only in a major character seemingly leaving the show, but in the introduction of new love interests. Overall, it was a highly engaging and entertainment episode that leaves us waiting impatiently for more.
