Amina returns and tension is brewing in the Baker house between Jordan and Layla. Here’s our All American season 8 episode 1 hour 2 recap.

Cassius and Jordan team up
Cassius and Jordan are hard at work planning their showcase. Cassius and Jordan decide to ask for forgiveness instead of asking for permission. After seeing their work, Principal London allows them to host the combine at Beverly. Meanwhile, KJ and Khalil are locked in on their workouts.
Jordan comes home and talks nonstop about the combine which doesn’t go over well with Layla after he missed brunch. Layla wants to talk about something else.
Later, Layla and Jordan make amends and have a nice dinner together. Jordan apologizes for running ahead with the combine and leaving her behind. Meanwhile, Layla apologizes for how she reacted to feeling left behind.
Despite the planning for the combine being a success, things still aren’t on the up and up for Cassius at Beverly.
Coop’s internship
While Coop and Layla are hanging out at Preach’s house, we learn that Coop has an interview with a prestigious Black-owned law firm.
While they’re talking, Amina returns from her new school for the week before final exams.
Coop is nervous to join Brianna at the Black Women’s Law Collective at Layla’s. Coop meets a partner at the law firm she’s looking to intern at. Coop feels like Brianna fed her to the wolves, but Coop’s schmoozing pays off.
Khalil’s mom asks for help
Khalil’s mom asks Layla to help her reconnect with Khalil, but he isn’t interested in giving her more chances.
Tash shows up at the Baker house to talk to Khalil, but Layla isn’t having it.
Tension rises
Things get tense when Amina shows up at KJ’s school. Tori finds them talking and wants to know what’s going on. She isn’t too happy about her popping up.
Things get awkward when Khalil walks into the Slauson Cafe with Miranda, one of his new girls. Things get even more awkward when KJ and Tory walk in. Amina wants to know what happened with Khalil’s college future which invites a little conflict between her and Miranda who see things differently.
Miranda wants to make her relationship with Khalil official. KJ shows up at Amina’s house where we learn that Amina’s hiding a big secret that affects Khalil.
