Coop looks for Spencer and Cassius steps up for his family. Here’s our All American Season 8 Episode 10 recap.
Cassius steps up
Layla arrives at the hospital to comfort Jordan and check on Liv who is in pre-term labor. Meanwhile at Beverly, KJ is holding down the fort. When his mother arrives, he lets her know that he doesn’t trust Cliff.
When Layla decides to go back home to get some things for Liv, Cassius offers to go for her so she can stay with Jordan.
Jordan wants answers
Things get tense when Jordan asks Layla how her meeting went. He’s surprised, and upset, to know that she has an offer from Roc Nation to buy her record label. He wants to know why she didn’t tell him sooner.
Where’s Spencer?
Coop enters the hospital and senses that she’s interrupting something. After talking to Layla, she heads back to the Baker house to find Liv’s hotel room key so she can find some information about Spencer’s whereabouts.
Coops gets a text from Spencer’s manager letting her know where he is. At the set, she’s finally allowed to see Spencer after security gives her a hard time. Unfortunately, it turns out he already left for the day.
Later, Coop gets an idea and finds a creative way to reach Spencer.
Cassius faces the music
Cassius arrives at the hotel and drops off a bag for Liv when Jordan returns to the lobby he faints.
After he avoided her calls, Ava finds Cassius and tells him to get to Beverly to support their son. He thinks he’s running from something. She wants to know if he’s changed his mind about reuniting their family. Cassius explains why he missed their dinner date. They take a quick trip down memory late and remember the love they have for each other.
Miranda pulls up
Before Khalil can leave the Baker house for the showcase, Miranda shows up. He admits he only started his relationship with her because of his abandonment issues with his mom. He decides to end things with her to focus on his family situation and football.
Cassius steps up again
Jordan wants to talk to Layla again about why she wasn’t able to confide in him with everything that was on her plate. Cassius and Ava show up at the hospital to deliver some food to Jordan. Sensing that something is off, he gives Jordan a big cousin talk and tells him to squash things with Layla in light of what’s happening with Liv.
Ava heads back to the school, finds KJ, and asks for his help with something. Meanwhile, Cassius calls Cliff to his office and puts his foot down. Cassius from North Oakland has entered the chat, Cassius and Ava then make it official. Their family is back together.
The episode ends with Cassius making Jordan a proposition he might not be able to refuse.
Final thoughts
The showcase is feeling drawn out. Khalil getting detoured from getting to the showcase at every turn is starting to stress me out. It’s also odd that Spencer can’t be found, but there are probably business reasons for that. Having Daniel Ezra on a number of episodes can be expensive and they have a budget. Still, it looks a bit odd so far when it comes to the story, but we’ll see where they take it.
Still, despite all of that, generally speaking, this episode was still a good watch. It’s great to see the evolution of Cassius as a character as he found himself outside of his father, and now Cliff’s influence. It’s also been rewarding to see how his relationship with Jordan has grown, as well as how Khalil is maturing into a young man.
Some fans are upset with how these final episodes of playing out, but overall, the characters are being treated with care. Let’s see where the writers and producers go over the final three episodes.
