TYLER PERRY’S SISTAS SEASON 5 EPISODE 20 REVIEW

Gary and Robin go head-to-head and Maurice gets some good news. Here’s our Tyler Perry’s Sistas Season 5 Episode 20 review.

As we inch closer to the season finally, Tyler Perry’s Sistas is reaching a climax. The episode does a good job of answering some questions while raising some new questions as a potential cliffhanger for the finale.

Que’s identity revealed

The episode opens with Que’s revealing himself (in more ways than one). Danni explains that she knows Que from work while Sabrina explains that Que was the one who robbed and the bank and slept with Maurice.

”I can’t believe me and Maurice had the same dude.”

Danni puts two and two together that Logan got Que the job at the airport. She kicks Que out of her apartment, but before she goes, she has some final words for him.

‘Your balls need conditioner.”

Sabrina questions why Danni is doing this and reminds her that the cycle she’s in is just like in college.

Gary and Robin go head-to-head

Today is the day of the showdown between Gary and Robin who reveals to Andi that his lender wants interest on the load he gave him. Gary called the lender and offered the lender a better offer if he rescinded Robin’s loan. Robin, in turn, asks her if she’s working with Gary.

After explaining her reasoning for helping Robin, she lets Robin know he’s on his own.

Later, Hayden and Gary get cocky as they head into the meeting with Robin. Gary informs Robin that the partners in the firm decided to add an additional $10 million to the call which means Robin has to raise another $3 million

Maurice getting out of jail

Calvin comes over and Sabrina lets him know Bayo gave her the money to get Maurice out of jail. After Sabrina says she will continue seeing Bayo, Calvin questions whether Bayo tried to buy her back. After the build up of their relationship and hints they’d be rekindling their early romance from earlier in the series, this is a let down and comes across as slightly unrealistic. You can tell Calvin is disappointed that Sabrina is seeing Bayo and that he was able to help me.

They call Maurice, who is obviously happy, but he gets a little extra. Before the scene ends he chokes himself with the telephone chord and takes the hand of the inmate next him and encourages him to choke him. This comes across as improvised and is one of the funnier moments in the episode.

With the weeks long build up towards Maurice’s release, his reaction to the news of finally getting out of jail is rather unrealistic and underwhelming. Instead of a “praise break” and being thankful, Maurice reacts to the news by being a bit of a thot instead of being thankful for finally seeing the light of day.

Tamara going rogue?

At the office, Fatima fills Andi in on the latest with Zac, while Andi fills Fatima in on the latest with Karen. Fatima calls Zac and encourages him to apologize to Karen for the run in at the restaurant.

Fatima learns Hayden has Tamara filling out an application for secretary at the law firm. Fatima tells her she can’t work at the firm but she isn’t about to listen. She wants the job and Hayden’s money

Sabrina shows up at the office and fills Andi in about Danni and Que sleeping together. They arrange for the girls to visit Danni after work

Andi questions Sabrina on how she was able to get Bayo to give her the money to help Maurice. Aaron comes to the salon to bring Karen lunch (and comes on a little strong) but she doesn’t look too happy.

Meanwhile, Karen seems a little uncomfortable and annoyed with Aaron when he brings her lunch at the salon and comes on a little strong. With the two seemingly in a great place in recent episodes, the scene creates a sense of doubt and tension and the feeling that there’s trouble in paradise.

Plot twist

To close out the episode, with a major plat twist. Joey, Fatima’s baby daddy shows up at Zac’s house. This is the perfect way to end an episode leaving us to wait for the story to evolve next week.

Overall, it was a good episode that leaves you on the edge of your seat and leaves you wondering whether Robin will be able to secure new funding for his company or potentially lose it. While Maurice’s responses to the news of him being freed may have appeared underwhelming given the build up, Danni (played by Mignon) once again carried a lot of the storyline as she has throughout the season. The evolution of the character of Danni has been one of the highlights of the whole season.
