TYLER PERRY’S SISTAS SEASON 5 EPISODE 21 REVIEW

Maurice gets out of jail and Zac learns more about Fatima’s secret past. Here’s our Tyler Perry’s Sistas Season 5 Episode 21 review.

With even more new storylines beginning, the drama on the show has grown by leaps and bounds. The episode continues to raise some new questions as we learn more about the backstories of Fatima and Aaron.

Fatima’s secret life revealed

The episode opens with Fatima’s baby daddy at Zac’s door. He reveals that Fatima has a nine-year old son in Washington D.C. and that Fatima left because she didn’t want him. He came to see Fatima because their son is asking a lot of questions about his mom. Damn.

Danni and Preston

Preston shows up at the airport with Danni thinking he’s there to see her. Not so. Preston’s almost fiancee, Mindy, is coming to see him and she happens to be arriving near Danni’s gate. Preston asks Danni wants to meet her. Que interrupts to ask if Preston is bothering her, but Danni doesn’t want his help.

After Preston leaves, Danni asks Que if Logan got him the job at the airport. He’s trying to say he’s not the person she thinks, but she goes in on him for getting her friends locked up.

Fatima and Tamara play Hayden

Leaving off from last episode, Gary and Hayden leave the meeting with Robin. Heather walks in to meet with Hayden to go over fleecing Zac. With Hayden and Heather in their meeting, Fatima calls Tamara to get her to intervene. Fatima then calls Zac, but it’s clear something is up with him.

Tamara finally shows up at Hayden and Heather’s meeting and Fatima works her magic. Hayden drops Heather as a client and Fatima get what she wants.

Heather goes into Fatima’s office and accuses them of playing with her. Fatima encourages her to talk to Zac herself instead of going through Hayden.

Then Gary stops in to see Andi to ask her about going to dinner and tries to engage in some PDA to make Robin jealous.

Later, Zac pulls up to the office to confront Fatima about having a son and she doesn’t deny it.

While the character of Fatima is still loved by many in the fanbase, she has become less likeable, often “doing too much”. The upcoming storyline about her previous life threatens to push her even more in the direction of being hated by fans who once loved her.

Maurice gets out of jail

While waiting for Maurice to get out of jail, Calvin tries to sort out what’s happening between him and Sabrina in light of her liking Bayo. While they’re talking, Maurice enters in style, flourishing and smiling. He doesn’t want Calvin; je wants his “African knight in shining armour”.

Sabrina group calls Karen and Andi and tells them about Danni and Que. They decide to go to her place later.

Maurice comes home and see his apartment was cleaned out. He blames Calvin and questions his manhood in not being able to stop him. After he leaves, Sabrina tells him that Calvin beat Que with a golf club and Maurice feels bad. Sabrina tells Maurice to take responsibility for his part in everything with Que and calls him out for how he treated Calvin.

From season four to the end of season five, the character of Maurice has gone from being one of the more likeable characters to one of the more least likeable ones. While he has evolved with the story of him going to jail, his over-the-top personality, accentuated by trauma, has grown a bit tired.

Who is John?

Fatima isn’t the only one carrying a big secret. When Aaron shows up with lunch at the salon, Karen is thankful for him being nice to her. Things get a little spicy when a woman named Jennifer shows up at the salon to see him. They go to talk outside and things get heated. She slaps him and they have a big dispute. He tells her to stop calling him “John”. Who is John?

Since the character of Aaron was introduced, one of his draw backs was that he was too nice and bland, and had no depth. With this new storyline, he’s showing cracks in his armour setting up a big backstory in season six.
