Credit: BET

Andi goes back to work, Rich receives some news, and Hayden pays Gary a visit. Here’s our Tyler Perry’s Sistas Season 8 Episode 11 mid-season finale recap.

Andi’s back?

With Robin trying to convince Andi to stay away from the office, Andi reminds him of her accomplishments at the firm and that she doesn’t need to be saved. She puts him in his place and decides to take back her place at the firm. But Robin says he only wants what’s best for her and that the optics wouldn’t be good if she went back to work. He’s also worried about how another scandal would look to the other partners. Robin tries to kiss her, but she isn’t having it. She decides to return to work by the end of the day.

Later, in the office parking lot, Andi is being followed by a mystery man. Once she gets inside, Fatima is happy to see her. But the good vibes are short lived when she sees Robin is having a meeting with the partners. Robin tells her that she’s being put on mandatory leave pending the outcome of the FBI investigation into Gary’s stabbing. The offer to have her become a partner has also been rescinded. Robin is slimy and is slowly turning into the new Gary.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Hudson has the hospital staff hold Gary down and sedate him, stating that he’s a danger to himself. Hudson is looking a little suspect as he jumps on a call with a mystery person.

Penelope in hot water

Jordan is at the police station where he’s accused of being a pedophile by a gossipy police officer at the front desk. This officer character is kind of annoying. Meanwhile, in the interrogation room with Agent Watt, Penelope is revisiting her relationship with Gary. We learn that even after losing her baby, she still wanted to give him another chance. But she feels he deserved what he got.

When asked why she left protective custody, she confides that she had enough of hiding. Agent Watt wants to know where she was the night of Gary’s stabbing, but she doesn’t remember much. She admits there was blood all over her hands and that she must have killed Gary. This almost confession gets her in hot water.

A new Danni?

At Danni’s place, her and Tony are having a nice dinner. Danni is having a sober evening with “no vape, no joints, no gummies, no blunts”. But when things start getting a little hot, Danni questions whether they should take a break from sex too. It doesn’t go over well and they end up in a fight. When Tony leaves, the argument takes a toll on Danny’s heart and she ends up having to call for help.

Sabrina can hoop

After pulling up to her work and challenging Sabrina to show her basketball skills, Sabrina and Rich go one-on-one at the basketball court with the winner being treated to a bubble bath. But Sabrina has more game than Rich thought. She ends up winning and bruising his ego. It leads to a nice conversation about the kids they’re going to have one day. But the feel-good moment of two finally being on the same page is broken up when the lab calls. They think there’s something wrong with his sample. Plot twist. The man who didn’t want kids might not be able to have them.

Hayden is frazzled

Fatima and Hayden are at it once again with Hayden predicting that she’ll be gone after Andi goes down for stabbing Gary. Fatima then asks how hi ho, Tamara, and Gary are doing. She rubs salt in his wounds by telling him to take Tamara to the hospital since Gary would love to see her.

At home, Hayden and Tamara are getting busy on the coach, but Hayden doesn’t want to kiss her after Gary’s “thing” has been in her mouth. Wow. After Fatima’s comments, he’s paranoid that she told people their business. He decides to pay Gary a visit at the hospital.

As soon as Hudson leaves to jump on a suspicious call, Hayden enters the room to see “the dirty, backstabbing, motherfucker” Gary. He’s looking to do Gary some harm for having sex with his woman after everything he did for him.

Karen and Aaron?

Back at the salon, Karen is on the phone making dinner/business arrangements with Aaron. Pam in all her nosiness wants to know what’s going on. With both Aaron and Zac texting her like crazy, Pam praises her for having two attentive baby daddies when a lot of women can’t even find one. Zac tells Karen to not breastfeed so he and Fatima can take the baby sooner than later. Yeah, kinda out of order.

Later, Karen comes over to the Zatima residence unannounced to see Zac. She wants to talk about his 150 text messages that he sent, including his request for her to not breastfeed. Fatima and Karen agree that Zac is out of line. But Sistas fans can rejoice. After years of Karen being pregnant, her babies might finally be on the way. But with this series, you never know.

Final thoughts

I have to admit, the constant drama and new storylines, like problems with Rich’s sperm sample, is kind of tiring to follow and watch. It’s taking a long time for any character to catch a break and finally be happy. But I also have to admit that with the last few episodes, I actually found myself getting excited whenever another Wednesday came around, so the writers and Tyler Perry must be doing something right. The mid-season finale raised the stakes and ended by showing us a list of viable suspects into the attempted murder of Gary.

Luckily fans won’t have to wait too long to find out what happens next. Tyler Perry’s Sistas returns Wednesday, January 1st at 9pm on BET. For more Black film and TV content visitshiftermagazine.com/black-film-and-tv.
