LOCKS ENTERTAINMENT TO HOST FUNDRAISER 3V3 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

3v3 basketball tournament

Ottawa entertainment service “LOCKS” is hosting a 3v3 basketball tournament to raise funds for the Locks Cares Fund. The Locks Cares Fund, in partnership with the Black Market Creative Agency, is raising funds in support of newcomer families settling into Canada.

The event will take place on August 28th at Fisher Park Courts on 250 Holland avenue, from 2pm until 10pm. There will be limited spots with a maximum of 175 people allowed to attend so make sure not to be fashionably late.

Artists including Lia Kloud, City Fidelia and Lvnce Lorenzo will be performing live, with local merchants around to sell products and guests treated to food made by The Caribbean Cruiser. Keynes Woods and J Chinnasz will be guest referees.

LOCKS will invite ten teams of three (including a substitute) to play in two halves of fifteen minutes for $120 each with all proceeds going directly towards BIPOC single or dual guardian households and newcomer families preparing for the upcoming school year.

All level players are welcome. To sign up and play, or win raffle prizes, click here.

LOCKS have a goal of $8,000 with $2,377 already raised. Not only is the group looking to support their community, but the goal is to also bring Ottawa’s basketball and hip-hop cultures together.

Audience entry is set at $5. Carrying cash is strongly recommended.

Players will have a chance to win prizes which include:

-$500 cash prize sponsored by Merivale Vision Care & Wellington Vision Care

-4 DOJO No DQ Hoodies

-2 Harry Du’s Du-rag

-4 $25 off Midnight Bites

Some prizes for the winning team are split into four. Teams of three will still receive prizes for a fourth member.

If you want to support but can’t attend, text LOCKS to 855-202-2100 and get a link to donate.

Due to circumstances, COVID-19 regulations will be implemented.

All individuals will have to wear a mask in order to limit the spread of the virus to others. Anyone waiting in line outside a facility or in a park space must wear a mask and maintain a physical distance of at least 2 meters from any other person. Entry can be denied to anyone if capacity is reached. (Exceptions include players, staff, vendors & security.)
