AFROBEATS MUSIC FESTIVAL IS BRINGING ECLECTIC TALENT TO OTTAWA THIS WEEKEND

Afrobeats Music Festival

Ottawa will get a taste of the finest in Afro-Caribbean music at the inaugural Afrobeats Music Festival on Saturday, August 20th, hosted by Africa Live Canada.

This summer has been filled to the brim with amazing events, and just when we thought it couldn’t get any more exciting… it does.

Last summer, Africa Live Canada brought vibes to Mooney’s Bay with Afrofest Ottawa, which was a free, 2-day music festival with a lineup filled with artists from Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto. The event had over 10,000 attendees, and this year they have something bigger and better planned.

The first ever Afrobeats Music Festival is happening this Saturday, August 20th and the lineup is seriously star-studded! With performances from international acts like Diamond Platinumz, P-Square, Kranium, Focalistic, Sensey, and Primo Green, if you didn’t know anything about Afrobeats before, you definitely will after attending the show. Many local artists will also be taking the stage throughout the day. If you’re an avid Afro-Caribbean music lover, this is the place to be!

The festival will be taking place at the Ottawa Titans Baseball Club, and will have a heavy rotation of mainly Afrobeats music with a blend of soca, reggae, dancehall, zouk, and much more. This is the first event of its kind happening in the nation’s Capital, and as Afrobeats music continues to take over the world, it’s amazing to witness the culture being shared and showcased in ways that literally bring thousands of people together.

Africa Live Canada was founded in 2016, and is a youth driven non-profit organization that aims to positively impact Canadians of African Descent in Ottawa. After their success from Afrofest Ottawa, it only made sense for them to come back even harder for the culture.

Tickets for the Afrobeats Music Festival can be purchased here or at participating retailers. Make sure to follow @AfricaLiveCanada on Instagram to keep up with them and their awesome initiatives, and for any updates or more information on the festival, follow @AfrobeatsMusicFestival.

Join thousands of festival goers on August 20th for a day filled with good food, great music and lots of fun! The vibes are sure to be guaranteed; and as the saying goes, “we outside!”
