To close out Black History Month, celebrated Canadian Designer, George Sully, is set to award the newest stand-out Black Designers of Canada Members with the 2024 BDC Award of Excellence on February 26th.
Award winning designer and creator of Black Designers of Canada, George Sully, continues to emphasize the importance of celebrating black excellence in Canada and within the fashion industry through the recognition of talented Black Canadian designers from coast to coast. He is pleased to announce the fourth annual Black Designer Award of Excellence.
The Black Designer Award of Excellence serves as recognition of the challenges faced by Black Designers of Canada and underscores the resilience, motivation, and dedication required to overcome them. The BDC Award of Excellence is given to a chosen group of the year’s newest BDC registrants to the platform who exude excellence in their design contributions to the Canadian fashion community, showcasing relentless enthusiasm and a “never-give-up” attitude through their work.
Principal, George Sully, states, “More than just a fancy keepsake the BDC award of Excellence serves as a simple reminder to ourselves to keep going, and never give up.”
This beautifully hand-crafted glass Award of Excellence will be presented by our honoured recipients at our fourth annual virtual IG presentation on Monday, February 26th. We look forward to our honourees sharing in the celebration virtually on their respective social media platforms using the awards hashtag #BDCexcellenceAwards.
Born in August 2020 out of his own firsthand experiences of struggle and racially driven resistance, George Sully launched Black Designers of Canada (BDC) as the first-ever all-embracing index of Black Canadian designers in the fashion industry. It is a platform aiming to give a voice to Black designers in the community while eliminating the excuse of exclusion.
In Canada, we’ve been blessed to have an abundance of incredible Black talent. From fashion designers to interior designers, performance artists and all creative arts. Now is the time to amplify Black voices and Black stories, particularly within the Canadian design industry.

· Exceptional Social Media Platforms, Photography, Overall Brand Presentation
