The Vortex head to back to the cabin where relationships and connections are tested. Here’s our All American Season 6 Episode 6 recap.

We’re back with another episode of our favorite group of friends on All American. Tonight, we return to the cabin where, of course, nothing can go wrong.

Spencer’s assignment

We open with Spencer working on an extra credit assignment analyzing relationships. He’s decided that he wants to graduate early and this assignment is going to get him there. Coop is chatting with him about his options. He decides to spend the day at the cabin to finish the assignment. He’s soon joined by the whole gang who each have reasons for getting away.

Patience’s struggles

Coop decides that her and Patience should tag along because she’s worried about Patience who is not doing well knowing Miko’s people are doing everything they can to win their court case. Patience is slowly losing her cool and becoming more afraid of Miko being out. At the cabin, Patience shares her goals and seems to be bonding more with Coop. During a relationship exercise, she’s paired with Layla and shares that she’s afraid of what she can’t see coming. In the end, she’s grateful for Coop and they share a moment letting us know how they really feel.

Jordan’s emotions

Layla and Jordan are having roommate troubles and find themselves at the cabin with the others. Jordan’s only concern is the football game which will decide whether GAU will make the playoffs. He wants to see the game while Layla wants to just be together. Jordan is also avoiding Spencer like the plague. We really see a baby side to him where he’s just being annoying to everyone. When he learns that Layla took Ryan’s advice about her meds, he becomes even more distant.

Laura’s new groove

Meanwhile, Grandma Wendy is visiting and encourages Laura to move on in her love life. She’s not ready to date but Wendy insists that she can have some fun. They are later joined by Grandpa Willy who is secretly working with her on Laura’s quest for love. They have a ball putting together her dating profile and in the end GW starts hitting on Wendy. We have come a long way from Grandpa Willy not loving the Fine women.

Communication and connection

While at the cabin, the internet suddenly goes out, forcing the group to really focus on each other. They agree to help Spencer out with his case studies on relationships. Each activity shows the group that they are not as close as they thought. Spencer and Olivia reveal some truths that they haven’t shared with each other prompting them to have the conversations they need to have.

I really enjoyed seeing the group connect as friends and love interests. It was so refreshing to see Coop be a real friend to both Spencer and Olivia. She’s really riding for both of them. Dipping back into themes from Season One is giving this season a real boost and reminding the long time watchers what we loved about the show, and I’m here for all of it.

All American airs Mondays at 8pm on the CW.
