TYLER PERRY’S SISTAS SEASON 8 EPISODE 1 (PREMIERE) RECAP

The FBI are investigating Gary’s murder as the whole crew are questioned. Here’s our recap of Tyler Perry’s Sistas Season 8 Episode 1.

After a somewhat brief hiatus, Tyler Perry’s Sistas is back with a whole new season of over-the-top drama. Season seven ended with Gary lying in his own blood as the victim of a stabbing as his own wedding, setting us up for a season of “Who killed Gary?”

The season also ended with Rich storming into the sperm donor clinic after changing his mind about being Sabrina’s sperm donor.

So without delay, let’s get into the drama from the season eight premiere.

FBI investigates

The episode opens with flashing back to Andi discovering Gary’s body before showing her being interrogated by Agent Watt and the FBI for his murder. Unfortunately, she isn’t ready to tell the full truth. Why she doesn’t want to admit to being blackmailed by Gary and forced into marrying him, is unclear.

Soon, it’s Gary’s friend and henchman, Hudson’s turn in the hot seat. He accuses Andi of being greedy and having a motive to kill Gary, and tries to throw shade at Karen, who is also being interrogated, for having two baby daddies.

One-by-one, they are all interrogated, including Sabrina, who the investigator noted has done jail time; Danni, who admitted to wishing violence on Gary. Danni is so unbothered and cool under pressure.

When it’s Zac’s turn to be interrogated, the investigator threatens to have his “mute” son, Michael, taken from him. He also warns the investigator to keep Fatima’s name out her mouth and off the suspect list. Meanwhile, Agent Watt tells Fatima it would be a shame for her to end up being the stereotypical longsuffering Black woman standing by her trifling Black man. He also suggests she had a motive as Andi’s loyal paralegal, or as the fiancée of a man who was cheated out of his money by Gary.

Things get interesting when a flustered Jordan is questioned and wants to know about the whereabouts of his sister. The detective is trying to build a motive against him, but he isn’t taking the bait. He gets angry when the detective calls Andi a bitch.

In the end, it turns out Agent Watt is an asshole after all and not one of the good guys after he berates Andi. But a familiar face in Robin comes in just in time to become her legal counsel.

Hayden tries to skip town

With all the drama going down, Hayden decides to skip town…until Tamara catches him trying to leave. Aside from Andi, he, arguably, had the most motive to kill Gary.

The sistas go home

A suited up Tony stops into the juice bar to see Rich. They’re worried about their girls being questioned. Later, Sabrina decides to stop at home before going to the bank and dealing with Maurice. Rich is waiting for her and comforts her. She isn’t handling being interrogated very well.

When Danni gets home, she decides to journal about her day. Apparently, she’s still in therapy. Rich comes over to make sure she’s good after being interrogated, but Danni doesn’t want to talk. She just wants to “ride it”.

Meanwhile, Pam pays Karen a visit at home to check up on her.

At home, Zac can’t believe he was being questioned into Gary’s murder, but Fatima wonders if he actually did it after Gary stole his money and his bodyguard roughed her up. Zac throws the question back to Fatima, stating that she had the most motive next to him.

Gary lives?

Plot twist. In the end, we find out that Gary was dead, but has battled for his life. This isn’t exactly the storyline we thought we were getting, but we’ll see how this plays out.
