Unless you’re hiding under a rock, you know that Toronto is on a bit of a run right now with the likes of Drake and The Weeknd leading the charge, but flying under the radar are a pair of signings that could pay dividends for the Toronto music scene.
On a quest to find Canada’s next big hitmakers, American record label, Blimp City Records, has signed Toronto hip-hop artists King Fou and Qsofresh and the pair have hit the ground running with their first singles under the Universal Music distributed imprint.
Back in July, Qsofresh dropped his new single “Potion” featuring Lil Keed from Young Thug’s YSL. The single already has over 48,000 streams and counting on Spotify.
Also in July, King Fou released his new single “Boss” featuring Boosie Badazz, with the Toronto artist’s effortless flow and vocals in full display. The single has over 36,000 streams on Spotify since its release.
Although the name Blimp City may not be well-known in Canada, founder Marlon Grimes, also known as Maddi Madd, has deep roots in the industry, having worked with artists like Flo Rida, Jamie Foxx, Rah Digga, Jodeci, and Ginuwine. It’s this combination of experience and connections that the music industry vet is putting behind his latest signees as he attempts to propel them to the top of the hip-hop game.
The Blimp City releases “Potion” and “Boss” are available on all major streaming platforms.
