TORONTO NATIVE, KEVIN WILSON, JOINS LAKERS STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING STAFF | PEOPLE ON THE MOVE

Kevin Wilson joins lakers

“People On The Move” takes a look at people moving on to new and exciting roles in our community and culture. Next on the move is Toronto native, Kevin Wilson, who joins the Los Angeles Lakers as their new Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach after moving on from his role as Athletic Performance Coach/Human and Player Performance with the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder.

It was only two ago that we shared the news of Toronto native, Kevin Wilson, joining the performance staff for the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder after a stints with the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) and the British Basketball League (BBL). Now, he’s on the move again after landing a new position as Assistant Strength And Conditioning Coach with the Los Angeles Lakers where he will be helping to keep basketball royalty like Lebron and Bronny James, and Anthony Davis in tip top shape.

Wilson took to Instagram to share the news.

“Next Chapter!!! Blessed to be joining the @lakers as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach. Endless gratitude & appreciation to @strengthoach_ed and @caoachrasnyf2 for seeing my potential as a person & professional.”

In Toronto, Wilson is known as the founder of the National Youth Basketball Mentorship Program, a non-profit organization that provides youth with mentorship from Canadian professional and university basketball players, as well as university and college coaches. They also teach youth sport psychology, sports nutrition, injury prevention and athletic development, financial literacy, film breakdown and on-court video analysis, academic empowerment, and spiritual development. His impact in the community landed him on SHIFTER’s 2020 Outstanding Black Men in Canada list.

Prior to this, Wilson was a standout player during his five years at Ajax High School before completing his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at Brock University and a diploma in Fitness and Health Promotion at Fleming College, playing on the varsity teams at both schools. He went on to complete his master’s degree in physiotherapy at Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland and his doctorate in physical therapy at The College of St. Scholastica.
