Ottawa and Toronto natives, Lindasson and Young Smoke, team up for their new track and music video “PICTURES” off the upcoming Allcapyow project OTTAWA x TORONTO set to be released on June 23rd.
Allcapyow, an Ottawa-based social media page that covers and highlights the city’s urban culture, as well as its entertainment and hip-hop scene, is connecting the bridge together Ontario’s two biggest cities for a collaborative project entitled OTTAWA x TORONTO.
Striving to be the number one Canadian outlet based out of Ottawa through premiering the latest music videos, entertainment news, and more, Allcapyow fulfilled the purpose of merging both the Ottawa and Toronto music scenes in this upcoming collaborative project with features from the likes of Duvy, FTG Reggie, Casper TNG, Badda, Lil Berete, KG Jay. The most recent single from the upcoming project is “PICTURES” featuring Lindasson and Young Smoke.
The song starts with a melodic guitar beat where the 808 synths and drum patterns follow through with a half pace. As the lingering synths come around within the background of the production, Lindasson and Young Smoke go bar-for-bar and follow through with a melodic crooning style with the stellar and vibrant intricacy in their vocals. The track also includes an explicitly nonchalant approach within their lyrics as they detail more about their lifestyle in their music. Young Smoke delivers the chorus with excellence and pays homage to his older brother, the late Smoke Dawg, and shares memories about the late rapper which was very beautiful to hear.
When it comes to the music video, director Set-A-Card came with ease and creativity in thinking outside the box. The music video starts with a typical old school introduction with the rotating film countdown to prepare viewers for the anticipation of the hook and first verse of the song. It panels down to framed pictures that go to each frame of the music video.
Young Smoke & Lindasson take advantage as they hit some light sturdy dance moves and vibe out. Other shots took place in a dressing room and at the same backdrop where they speak their piece.
By bringing a nice sound within their verses and being in their best element yet in regards to their singing, rapping, and presence, two of the hottest artists in Canada made sure to bring what the fans want and dedicate everything to their craft and the people that supported them from time. It’s even evident when it comes to connecting together and bridging the gap for both Ottawa and Toronto artists to step in and collaborate more in music.
After taking a listen, Young Smoke’s openness and Lindasson’s flagrant nonchalance on “PICTURES” showcase relatability, cultural connectivity, and a sense of immaculate musical taste as their melodic vocals, rap styles, and energy bringing a similar vibe that most people don’t recognize but it’s important to see the connection as Toronto and Ottawa are stronger together through these amazing collaborations and support with one another.
