Earlier this month, when Yeezy came out with their popular slides in three colors, my line was blowing up. As a fashion stylist, people looked to me to know where they could cop the highly sought-after slipper and if they were still stock. Needless to say, the release sold out within minutes of going live.
Last week, we saw Adidas x Yeezy return with the Yeezy 500 ‘Enflame’, a multicolored model that contrasted the monochrome “Utility Black” version which was the last we had seen of the shoe since November 2020.
The brand is now said to be returning with the Yeezy 500 High ‘Sumac’ on May 17th. This high-top shoe incorporates their signature neutral tones with striking red detailing and hues of blue. Although it’ll be extremely difficult, here are some tips on how you can try to get your hands on a pair of Yeezy 500 High ‘Sumac’ and other luxury streetwear drops and exclusive collabs before they sell out.
1. Tune in early, ideally by 10 a.m. EST, if you’re shopping online or even earlier if you’re shopping in-store. You may even want to follow the brand’s social media activity and subscribe to receive their mailers to be up-to-date on upcoming release dates.
2. If your exclusive drop is being sold through a raffle system (sites like END., FEATURE and Bodega do this), be sure to apply for the style and size you want ahead of time.
3. Didn’t get it this time around? Why not try resale? This might be my favourite way to shop high-end. There’s nothing better than getting a bargain deal for your kicks; just make sure they are from a reputable reseller. A little patience goes a long way.
