The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, also known as CARAS, recently announced the 2021 JUNO Award nominees including big names like The Weeknd, Jessie Reyez, NAV and Justin Bieber. Here’s the full story.

Earlier today, the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, also known as CARAS, held its virtual press conference announcing the 2021 JUNO Award nominees. Among the nominees are big names like The Weeknd, fresh off his Grammy snub, who leads the pack with six nominations including JUNO Fan Choice, Single of the Year, Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year and Contemporary R&B Recording of the Year; Jessie Reyez, with five nominations including two for Music Video of the Year; Justin Bieber, also with five nominations, as well as KAYTRANADA, Murda Beatz and WondaGurl in the Producer of the Year category.

Also among the nominees are NAV (JUNO Fan Choice, Rap Recording of the Year), Vancouver’s Manila Grey (Breakthrough Group of the Year), Alessia Cara (Songwriter of the Year), TOBi (Rap Recording of the Year, Contemporary R&B Recording of the Year), Savannah Ré (Contemporary R&B Recording of the Year), and 88Glam (Rap Recording of the Year).

Among the nominees for International Album of the Year are Eminem with Music To Be Murdered By and the late Brooklyn rapper Pop Smoke with Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon.

The 2021 edition of the awards will incorporate some of the most iconic musical landmarks from across the country, including Budweiser Stage in Toronto. More locations will be revealed ahead of the broadcast will air nationwide Sunday, May 16 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT across CBC’s platforms, including CBC TV, CBC Gem, CBC Radio One, CBC Music and globally on CBCMusic.ca/junos.
