EverythingOShauN got fans here in Canada and abroad dancing to his big track “Ala Beke”. Now he’s back with the long-awaited music video.
With an increasingly generic-sounding music industry, there’s a sparse number of artists who are out here doing something eclectic. However, Toronto’s EverythingOShauN continues to hit the scene with flair.
One distinctive ability packed into this artist’s punch is how multifaceted he is as an artist. EverythingOShauN has kept listeners engaged by maneuvering his voice and flow, mastering the art of sounding like many different acts on one track. He delved into this talent on his 2022 EP Everything Is Right There.
The big track off the project was “Ala Beke”, which translates to “dreams come true”, offers the best of both worlds. It’s an ode to his Nigerian heritage with a novel flair. The addictive track is powered by a catchy drill beat, serenaded by EverythingOShauN.
He recently dropped a new high energy video for the song. Directed by Marcus Letts, the visual has an edgy vibe, is laced with special effects, and radiates a sense of community. Look carefully, and you’ll spot SHIFTER’s own KB and Don in the video.
For EverythingOShauN, it’s important to bring his culture to the forefront in his music.
“I think it’s essential for me to bring the culture that I was brought up around into what I create”, he explains. “I use experiences from living with my grandma, influences from aunties, uncles and especially from my father. It was very important for me to incorporate that Naija energy into the music and into this project,” he details. “Yes, I know Afrobeats and the new African energy has taken the music scene by storm, but it was important for me to share my version and style of it being from Canada. Speaking and bringing that vibe of the motherland, mixing it with the island vibe to create my unique perspective. There aren’t many artists out there that can come from that perspective sonically, artistically etc. So I will always be different and stand out because of that.”
The future of Canadian music looks bright thanks to artists like EverythingOshauN who are bringing their cultural roots to the forefront. A melting pot of sounds and energy, we can’t wait to see what more EverythingOShauN has to offer.
