Keshia Chanté celebrates the 20th anniversary of her self-titled debut album with the release of a new Deluxe Edition.

Keshia Chanté is a name associated with longevity and her time on BET’s 106 & Park and ET Canada. A whole generation grew up seeing Chanté in front of the camera as a TV host and personality; so much so that they may not know that she got her start one as one of Canada’s most successful pop/R&B artists.

Fans were reminded of her contributions to Canada’s musical landscape at the All Canadian North Stars concert in July 2022 at HISTORY. The Drake curated event, which took place during OVO Fest, saw Chanté perform on the same stage as fellow Canadian hip-hop and R&B legends Kardinal Offishall, Jully Black, Saukrates, Shawn Desman, and Nelly Furtado. The following year she would serve as host for the 2023 Legacy Awards on CBC.

Now she’s back celebrating another major milestone in her illustrious career—the 20th anniversary of her self-titled debut album Keshia Chanté. and her hit single “Unpredictable”.  It was 20 years ago that a then 15-year-old Keshia Chanté dropped the album which would change her life and launch her into stardom both in Canada, where it was Certified Gold and won her the 2005 JUNO Award for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year, and the United States in a time when success south of the border was out of reach for most Canadian artists.

Chanté is celebrating the milestone with a Deluxe Digital Edition released through Sony Music Canada. The album is remastered and includes three exclusive remixes available for the first time on streaming platforms.

Chanté took to Instagram to share her thoughts on the milestone.

“It’s my 20 Year Music Anniversary! I dropped Unpredictable when I was 13 years old & my debut album went on to make music history & I am so grateful 20 years later to be celebrating an album that changed my life forever. It’s been a honor & a privilege to be a part of your core memories, your childhoods, your firsts, your teen years. And if I’m being honest, it was a really fun time in music. 2004 will forever be a special year to me. Thank you SONY. My incredible team who broke down doors. The DJ’s who spun my records first, radio stations who gave me extra love, fans who came to support me throughout the country. I had no idea that song would take me around the world & doing what I love. I love you forever.”
