R&B SINGER-SONGWRITER, EVANS, DROPS NEW SOULFUL SINGLE “YES YOU DO”

Toronto-based and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia raised R&B singer-songwriter, Evans, is back with his new single “Yes You Do”. The down-tempo track, with its soulful and cinematic sound, has already reached over 65K streams and counting on Spotify. The new single is a follow-up to his previous 2020 release “Die For This”.

On “Yes You Do”, Evans tackles relationships, questioning whether those connections are actually real.

“The concept of the song begins with not understanding if the relationships you have are entirely genuine, and wanting to isolate yourself from the people around you”, Evans told SHIFTER. “It’s also about trying to overcome the anxiety that comes with that, feeling disassociated and out-of-body at times. Even with those obstacles in place, trying to build healthy relationships and habits is key.”

“The creative process came from travelling back and forth from Toronto to Halifax, floating around Queen West at night trying to convince myself the decisions I was making were the right ones. The feel of the city during the darker, colder months helped mold this into what I think describes how I feel when I walk around on my own, being distracted by everything around me.”

Evans’ soulful vulnerability and songwriting was born after a long journey of serving in the military, then couch surfing, doing odd-jobs and perfecting his sound in Los Angeles, and eventually moving to Toronto. It was there that he made a splash with his 2019 debut single “Kauai” which earned over 140K streams on Spotify.

Since then Evans has gone on to collaborate with music video director Marcus Letts (who has worked with top Toronto artists Yung Tory, anders, and Ca$tro Guapo), recorded extensively with engineer and hitmaker, Sunny Diamonds, and collaborated with fellow Nova-Scotian R&B artist, JRDN. Now he is ready to breakout and take his place in Canada’s still growing R&B scene.
