WATCH WSTRN “UNLOAD” AND UNLEASH NEW SINGLE FEATURING BACKROAD GEE

WSTRN simply doesn’t miss, and their new single “Unload”, featuring BackRoad Gee, is right on target. Preaching loyalty till the end, “Unload” is a dancehall meets grime fusion from the West London trio that salutes day ones and calls out opportunists.

WSTRN has been on the up since the group’s inception, and expectedly, that’s when fake friends, long lost cousins and haters suddenly want a piece of the pie.

Exuding a menacing self-assuredness, WSTRN loathes the schemes of enemies in disguise. Asserting that their success was always predestined, they solidify a game plan to the top to keep their haters guessing.

The track starts off with Haile’s hypnotizing vocals, before he slides into his signature flow on the catchy hook:

“Unload, unload,
Tunе for di street dem ah tump on road
Seh we hot, now thеy wah jump on board
We strikers, seh uno we top score”

With a suspenseful edge amplified by the shelling of gunshots and hard hitting bass, Akelle and Louis Rei snarl over the grimy beat, merging witty lyricism with UK slang for a true WSTRN production. BackRoad Gee (BRG) wraps up the song with sharp agility and wordplay that properly represents the depths of UK rap. Produced by PRGRSHN, “Unload” has a somber, almost sinister vibe, complemented by contemplative keys and hi-hats.

With an aura as cold as steel, “Unload” is a moody contrast to the string of bright, orchestral records WSTRN has been serenading fans with over the last few months. “Unload”‘s release signifies that the trio won’t ever forget its hip hop roots, and exemplifies WSTRN’s knack for expertly switching between genres and styles.

WSTRN Season is here, album mode is on, and the crew will forever be in their zone.

Catch WSTRN in Toronto this weekend (August 7th, 2022) at Kultureland Festival at Markham Fairgrounds Toronto.
