Roy Woods, Haviah Mighty, Trey Richards, K. Forest, Leila Dey, LolaBunz, Troy Crossfield and Marlon Palmer are among those who will take part in the third annual Do You Part Celebrity Basketball Game in Brampton.
This Sunday, November 27th, the Save Max Sports Centre in Brampton will play host to the third annual Do Your Part Celebrity Basketball Game, a sport for climate action initiative that empowers and educates the BIPOC community on actionable steps towards climate resiliency.
The event was organized by Return The Love Community Support, an organization created “to strengthen the resilience of BIPOC communities against the disproportionate impact that climate change has on their lives” with a focus on mental health and physical wellness.
The annual event was launched in 2019, in partnership with the City of Brampton, with over 800 youth and members of the community in attendance.
Then in 2020, they went virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic, hosting an afternoon of dialogue and workshops with Olympic athletes, artists, and entrepreneurs.
This year, organizers are returning to an in-person format pitting local celebrities from the east and west of the Greater Toronto Area against each other to once again raise awareness about the impact of climate change on our community.
Among those who will participate in this year’s game are Roy Woods (head coach – Team West), Leila Dey, Troy Crossfield, Friyie, Haviah Mighty, Trey Richards, K. Forest and LolaBunz. Holding down hosting duties this year is popular podcaster and comedian, Marlon Palmer, with Summer Knocks and Shannyn Hill as your official DJ’s, and Zenesoul and Omega Mighty performing.
