Name: Christopher Tabaro
Home base: San Diego, California/Guelph, ON
Biggest accomplishment: Being able to do music for a living while being able to inspire others.
What creativity means to me: An action. A lot of people think of stuff, but I think that the creative process is all about action; making it happen. It’s painting your own picture, literally or metaphorically, rather than painting the same thing as somebody else.
Past and present creative icons: Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Victor Wooten, Herbie Hancock
Place where I feel most creative: It doesn’t matter where, as long as I’m in a room with an instrument. Nothing can stop me, once I come up with an idea, everything happens from there.
Favorite creative outlet: In person. I love the experience of playing in front of people. I love feeling the energy and the personal experience. Other than that, Instagram and Facebook are pretty cool; they get the job done.
What inspires me to create: If I’m not playing music for people, I’m slowly killing myself. There’s no turning back at this point, I gotta move forward, go all in.
If money weren’t an option I would: I’d start buying parking lots. I’d give back to the community. Invest in clean water initiatives. Open a music school.
Bio: Bassist Christopher Tabaro, born in Boston, MA, fell in love with music at 11 years old. He was raised in Ottawa, ON but moved to Guelph, ON at the age of 14. With time, his passion for music grew and he decided to move to San Diego, CA with a friend at the age of 19. His most notable performance was opening for the world’s three most famous bassists, Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller and Victor Wooten. He was fortunate enough to be able to meet them afterwards, a feeling he describes as euphoric, a dream come true. In 2015, he got to see Jamie Foxx and Latoya Jackson perform in LA. Tabaro was offered to join the Atlantic Records Canada team, which features names such as K-OS, Rush, Billy Talent and Simple Plan to name a few. Tabaro hopes to drop an EP in summer of 2016 and is in talks to go on tour with an iconic hip-hop crew.
