ISRAELLA KOBLA founder and creative director, Emefa Kuadey, is embarking on her biggest adventure yet—expansion to the United States.
It’s been almost five years since civil engineer turned fashion engineer, Emefa Kuadey, founded ISRAELLA KOBLA with the goal of “redefining minimalism through structure and bold femininity”.
In a fairly short period of time, the British born Ghanaian designer went from launching her brand at Vancouver Fashion Week in 2019 to being featured in leading magazines like Elle, Flare, Fashion, and The KIT and being featured nationwide on Cityline, Breakfast TV Toronto, and The Marilyn Dennis Show.
Now, the Toronto-based creative director is on the verge of her biggest achievement to date—her company’s expansion into the United States. With the help of New York-based sales director and strategist, Chiana Johnson and the team at leading commerce company, The Folklore, ISRAELLA KOBLA‘s brand of contemporary women’s clothing and accessories, including dresses, tops, bottoms, jumpsuits, vests, and blazers, are now available at Nordstrom locations across the U.S. and online.
Kuadey took to social media to share the news.
“Nordstrom has been my target retailer since we launched in 2019. So happy to announce this launch!”
ISRAELLA KOBLA offers both bi-annual and limited edition collections, which Kuadey calls “Pillars”, which highlight her appreciation for architecture and timeless design. This appreciation was forged while working as a Design Assistant at Integrity Designs before moving on to become a Fashion Research Assistant and Technical Design Lead at George Brown College. All of this while working as a freelance Product Developer for emerging and established brands.
In order to reduce waste and eliminate overproduction, her pieces are made on demand in-house, with her more popular pieces being produced in small batches and the remaining pieces made on demand typically in 1-2 weeks.
