“So the inspiration behind Celestial Echoes is focusing on our past, our present, and our future, but mainly is an invitation and call to action on how imperialism has deeply affected people’s lives and displaced many people. The intention is to educate people to learn more about Africa and its potential. Mainly to drive our minds and drive the Africans and the African Diaspora to understand that Africa means a lot to us, since it’s rich in natural resources and culture. This piece is a way of just encouraging people to appreciate mother, Africa…There’s a lot going on in Africa right now, so the central focus is on how we can unite as one to promote sustainability.” Rico Poku, interview with SHIFTER
