The Juno Awards took over the Budweiser Stage on Toronto’s Lakeshore. Shawn Mendes, Haviah Mighty and Charlotte Cardin were among the winners.
Tonight, the Canadian music industry once again came together for the biggest night in Canadian music, the 2022 Juno Awards. While most of the awards were handed out on Saturday, six awards were presented on Sunday night.
The winners included Haviah Mighty for Rap Album of the Year for Stock Exchange, Arkells for Group of the Year, Shawn Mendes for the International Achievement Award and TikTok Juno Fan Choice, Jessia for Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee Deborah Cox, and Charlotte Cardin, who walked away with three trophies on Saturday night, for Album of the Year for Phoenix. Also among the winners was Darren Hamilton of David Suzuki Secondary School in Brampton for MusicCounts Teacher of the Year.
The night opened with a skit by host and Marvel star, Simu Liu, and his former Kim’s Convenience co-host, Andrew Phung, followed by a performance by Arkells. Among the other performers were Haviah Mighty accompanied by Toronto Raptors DJ, 4Korners, Charlotte Cardin, Mustafa, Avril Lavigne, and Snotty Nose Rez Kids.
