Red Bull Dance Your Style is finally back in Toronto with 16 astonishing participants including Vancouver Island’s MegaMan.
After a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the acclaimed showcase Red Bull Dance Your Style is finally back. In this Toronto edition, the global freestyle street dance competition features 16 astonishing participants―four finalists from Vancouver and Montreal alongside eight wildcards selections.
Among the mind-blowing dancers in the room, Vancouver Island-based competitor AJ MegaMan Kambere joins the battles once more.
“I’ve been itching to come back this year. I’m hoping to get to the finals and potentially represent Canada at the World Final”, he says.
AJ previously battled with the 2019’s winner, Lady C.
MegaMan was born in Congo, grew up in BC, and moved to Vancouver Island to attend university. He’s now a professional street dancer who has worked alongside legendary icons and experts.
AJ also teaches the modality around the world and is engaged in various projects including the self-established Reality Check online program.
“I love to make audiences question if what they are seeing is real or not and claymation does that perfectly”, MegaMan comments on his animation style inspiration.
The competition opens doors for dancers throughout the nation to showcase their innate talent, have fun, make friends, and ultimately represent Canada in the finals happening this December in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The national semi-finalists are challenged to freestyle dazzling and sharp dance moves on surprise tracks by DJs M4Rs and iced Misto. This year’s event is being hosted by Benzo and C4LDEIR4.
You are welcome to join and interact by voting for your favorite dancers. The audience selects the winner of each 1×1 battle until the national finalist is chosen.
