    Amina returns from her trip to Baltimore, Beverly enjoys being #1, and Cassius receives an unexpected guest. Here’s our All American Season 7 Episode 10 recap.

    All American returns after a one week hiatus, and it was worth the wait. The storytelling on this episode was excellent. We get to see tension between Cassius and KJ as he sees a side of his father that he’s never seen before. Amina returns from visiting her grandparents in Baltimore with new information about her mother. We also see more complexity in the relationships between KJ and Tori, and Khalil and Amina.

    Now, let’s take a deeper look at what went down on All American Season 7 Episode 10.

    Amina returns

    Amina is back from her adventure to Baltimore to learn the truth about her mom. Coop wants to bond over breakfast, but Amina isn’t about it.

    At Crenshaw, Khalil is giving Amina the cold shoulder. She doesn’t understand why Khalil after he gave her a nice letter about needing to be a better friend to her. But he doesn’t want her getting wrapped up in his issues in the streets.

    Beverly is #1

    After taking over the #1 spot in the local football standings, Beverly is getting a lot more attention from the media, the athletic director, and boosters. The players are also becoming celebrities in the school halls. Unfortunately, KJ and Tori are failing at keeping their budding romance a secret.

    Things get a little tense for the team when Cassius emerges from a meeting with the athletic director and announces the starters won’t be playing in the final game of the season in order to avoid injury before the playoffs.

    Amina pulls up to Beverly in time to hear KJ vent about the family he invited to the game who won’t be seeing him play. She encourages him to bring his family together anyway, and to accept the decision to not have them play. She also shares that she didn’t learn much about her mom while in Baltimore. But she does learn that Khalil almost got jumped while she was gone. Amina goes over to Crenshaw to talk to Khalil. She reminds him that he has a village around him who is willing to help him.

    Later, Tori and KJ hang out at the hotel, but Tori gets upset when she learns that KJ already opened up to Amina. She also gives him the opposite advice from Amina and encourages KJ to fight for his right to play in the final game of the season. KJ listens and tells Cassius that he and the guys deserve to start. Cassius agrees to have them start, but will pull them at half-time. Before the game, KJ admits that Tori was right about everything before they engage in a little PDA.

    In the final game, Beverly is rolling, but after seeing his father in the crowd, Cassius is rattled and changes his plans. He decides to let his starters play and try to break the Beverly scoring record. KJ is concerned someone is going to get hurt as tensions rise as they humiliate the other team, but Cassius is set on breaking the record. Unfortunately, it might end up costing them something.

    Tori waits for KJ to meet up with her, but he’s busy trying to talk to his father. When Cassius and KJ go back to his office, Cassius’ father is waiting for him. KJ learns that his dad and grandfather have a plan that they’re putting in motion. His grandfather wants KJ to sit and learn the real reason they moved to Los Angeles.

    Coop’s future

    At the Baker house, Coop fills Layla in on the latest with Amina. Meanwhile, Layla sneakily texts Coop’s professor, Breonna, to ask her out for a drink to help her figure out her future in law and their relationship status.

    While Coop and Layla are at Preach’s house getting ready to go, Khalil comes in with Amina and asks for help with his problems in the streets.

    While waiting for Coop to arrive, Breonna and Layla hangout and get to know each other better. Layla asks Breonna about what’s going on between her and Coop. Meanwhile, Coop is meeting with the leader of the Crips to get her to end Marqui’s vendetta against Khalil. Unfortunately, she believes Khalil should’ve shown his father respect and gave him an alibi. She’ll need some more convincing.

    Back at the house, Amina and Coop have a long overdue talk about her mom. She learned from her grandparents that her mom wasn’t the person she thought she was. Coop reminds Amina about the best of her mother and that the love she had for Amina was real.

    Coop finally arrives at Layla’s, but Breonna wants to keep their conversation about Coop’s specialization in law for another time. She wants to spend the night getting to know each other better.

    Khalil’s good news

    In the end, Amina goes to Crenshaw to let Khalil know the Crips are going to give him a break. Whatever Coop said worked. Khalil tries to kiss Amina, but she’s upset. She’s worth more than just an impulsive decision.

    All American airs Mondays at 8pm on the CW.
