    Liv returns, Layla might be pregnant, and Coop begins law school. Here’s our All American Season 7 Episode 2 recap.

    This is the moment All American fans have been waiting for—the return of Samantha Logan, aka Liv Baker. Seeing her on screen and back with Layla and Coop, she’s really missed.

    This episode has some twists and turns, the return of Preach, and some unexpected Spelivia news so if don’t want to know, don’t read on.

    So let’s jump right in to our All American Season 7 Episode 2 recap.

    KJ and Cassius’ first day

    KJ is up and ready for his first day of school at Beverly, but the move has him being disrespectful to his dad. Cassius is nervous for his first day as head coach, especially with Billy Baker’s legacy looming over the school.

    KJ tries to step into a leadership role on his new team right out the gate, and claims the starting quarterback spot, rubbing his teammates the wrong way. They aren’t taking to the idea of being bossed around by the coach’s son. When the players test Cassius and complain about being tired, Cassius lays down the law and tells them to leave their rich privilege outside.

    Later, in the hallway, KJ bumps into Tory, who offers to show him around and give him the lay of the land at school.

    Coop’s first day

    Meanwhile, Preach, who makes his season seven debut, Amina, and Coop are celebrating Coop’s first day of law school at GAU. They are celebrating her becoming the next to make it out the hood after Spencer.

    At school, Coop is nervous about her first and decides to call and leave a message for Patience. Before Patience can return her call, a mystery woman, who turns out to be a professor, finds her and helps her to calm down after experiencing an anxiety attack. She realizes that for the first time she isn’t the underdog and that’s throwing her off.

    Liv returns

    Samantha Logan, we missed you! Liv pulls up in time to find out Layla might be pregnant. When Coop comes over, Liv gives her Laura’s lucky briefcase. After taking a pregnancy test, she gets a positive result. But later after learning the pregnancy test company was giving false positives, she finds out she isn’t pregnant after all. But Liv has a secret of her own.

    Khalil makes a comeback

    Khalil returns to school after being away, but Yasi is making his return uncomfortable. Later in class, Yasi takes a dig at him again calling him a dummy which almost leads to a fight. In detention, we find out that Khalil used to play football and knows how to break down film. The wheels are turning in Jordan’s mind. But unfortunately, Yasi decides to push Khalil’s buttons about Amina and he decides to quit school.

    Billy Baker gym dedication

    Amina surprises KJ by showing up for Beverly’s dedication of the Billy Baker Athletic Facility. He gives her the rundown on what happened with this team at practice and with Tory. They decide to meet up at The Hangout. When Preach arrives at the Baker dedication, he tells Jordan that Khalil used to be a good football player before his father, who was a gangster and used to come to his games, went to prison. The relationship between Jordan and Khalil is mirroring the relationship between Billy and Preach. Khalil just needs someone to believe in him.

    Also, at the dedication, Cassius runs into Layla for the first time since their day drinking session. Cassius’ insecurities are evident when he meets Jordan. When Tory runs out of the dedication, Amina shows up and tells him that Tory was the cheerleader until she got injured and didn’t return.

    At the dedication, Liv speaks and honors her father’s legacy, but Cassius is upset that the football program is being slept on.

    KJ and Khalil rebound

    At The Hangout, Amina finds Khalil. She tries to convince Khalil to give school another shot. KJ arrives in time to see them leave. Fortunately, Tory is there to mock him for it. He apologizes for misjudging her. She then opens up about the real reason she left cheerleading. She encourages him to enjoy being his fellow players’ teammate before trying to be their leader.

    KJ ends up connecting with his teammates while Cassius apologizes to his players for how hard he was on them. After being overlooked at the gym dedication, Cassius challenges them to prove everyone wrong.

    The episode ends with Khalil joining Amiri, Preach, and Coop for dinner. Jordan stops in to offer Khalil an opportunity to join the football team. Khalil accepts. He just wants to stay alive and live past 21 years old.

    All American airs Mondays at 8pm on the CW.
