From Weston Holdings to Lauren and Saxe, secrets are revealed. Here’s our Power Book II Ghost Season 3 Episode 8 review.
As expected from Power Book II: Ghost, more secrets are being revealed which may put lives in danger.
Davis (Method Man) is dealing with the fallout with his brother Theo (Jordan Mahome) and he’s not handing it well. With Davis in poor shape, Saxe (Shane Johnson) goes to represent Diana Tejada Diana Tejada (LaToya Tonodeo) in jail, but he has an ulterior motive.
The feds aren’t the Tejadas only problem as the Castillo family are looking for Gordo (Erik Hernandez). When Dru confronts Everett (Bradley Gibson) after he comes out on TV, revealing his white doctor boyfriend, he pretty much confesses to Gordo’s murder in a viral video. The Castillos want answers.
Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) informs Davis about the Rico case, Lauren (Paige Hurd) being alive, and Saxe working with the feds. A heated Davis goes to the station intercept Saxe and get Diana to pin everything on Effie (Alix Lapri). The feds go after Effie but only find sugar and coffee cups at the warehouse letting them know the Tejadas are onto them. Unfortunately, Effie isn’t completely out of the woods as Lauren, who was thought murdered, is finally revealed.
Cane (Woody McClean) goes to Stansfield to see if he can find any information. He pays Effie a visit and Effie pays him back **wink, wink** for paying her tuition. Meanwhile, Tariq tells Monet (Mary J. Blige) and Dru (Lovell Adams-Gray) about the Rico case. He then pays Effie a visit to get her back in the business.
Interview with Cooper Saxe actor, Shane Johnson
Tariq continues to spread good cheer telling Brayden about Rico case. Brayden in turn tells Tariq about Weston Holdings being a Ponzi scheme.
Tariq is once again the bearer of bad news telling RSJ about Weston Holdings being a Ponzi scheme. Ever the strategist, Tariq puts a plan in motion to get their money back.
A frustrated Davis tells his brother Theo that Saxe is a snitch. With nothing to lose given his health problems, Theo holds up Saxe at gun point. Putting two and two together, Tariq and Davis go to the waterfront to stop Theo from doing something stupid but it may be too late.
Overall, this was a well written episode. While some scenes were somewhat predictable, including the introduction of new love interests, others were completely unexpected. As with every week with this series, the episode continues to keep viewers on the edge of their seats as we’ve learned to expect the unexpected.
While tertiary characters like Councilman Tate (Larenz Tate) and his story appear inconsequential, they continue to prove how layered the show is.
Power Book II: Ghost returns Friday, March 18 on Starz.
