Karen celebrates her salon opening and Gary is under investigation. Here’s our recap of Tyler Perry’s Sistas Season 7 Episode 3.
With Maurice not on this episode, Karen finally opening her salon, and the FBI investigating Gary, you’d think this episode would be a great one. Still, it felt a bit mid; not a great episode, but not bad either. The storylines were well thought out, but something was missing. Perhaps more time is needed to get used to the time jump and the new writers, and to connect with the new characters after losing characters we grew to love. But at least the story seems to be headed in the right direction.
So let’s a look at what happened this episode.
Gary under fire
Andi comes into the office to find out the FBI is investigating Gary. Hayden comes in and makes a deal with Andi to not mention each other to the partners at the law firm. Will she lose the car and apartment Gary bought for her because of the investigation? Even though everything is in her name, we’ll have to see.
Soon Gary calls Hayden to help him, but Hayden turns him down after pressure from the FBI and his bosses. Things get more intense when Tamara shows up at the office to get Hayden back. She admits to being hired to play him, but says she fell for him in the process.
With no one to turn to, Gary calls Penelope to his office and tries to butter her up with her favorite food. Gary spills the food on her dress and while she’s in the bathroom, Gary takes pictures of her credit cards. Later, Gary’s hacker gets him added to Penelope’s life insurance policy and all her accounts.
Danni self-sabotages her healing
Danni is cleaning up her apartment and getting ready for her first therapist visit. Danni’s therapist appointment is cut short when she tells Cretia she doesn’t really need therapy and only agreed to do it for Tony and her friends. Cretia agrees to be available whenever Danni needs to talk. Danny later admits to self-sabotage.
Karen’s salon opening
Pam is continuing her social media influencer ways to get people to attend the salon opening. Things turn a bit grim when the lights go out. The building owner appears on cue and says the opening may not be happening. There were insufficient funds in Karen’s account to pay her lease.
With Pam spending too much of the salon’s money, Karen finally removes her from the account. Trey comes into the salon to pick up some packages and Karen can’t keep her eyes off of him.
One by one, the girls arrive at the salon opening. Andi fills the girls in on Gary’s FBI investigation, Danni admits to self-sabotaging, and Sabrina shares that she asked Rich for his sperm.
When Zac pulls up to the salon to both attend the opening and to ask Karen for a DNA test, Karen’s mom, Miss Lisa, hops into his car and tells him he shouldn’t be at the opening, let alone giving her flowers. He takes her advice and decides to go home.
Later, Karen expresses to the girls that she thought Zac would’ve showed up although she didn’t want him there.
When Zac gets home from the salon, Fatima thinks the roses are for her until Zac explains they were for Karen. She tells him he needs to have boundaries. When Fatima leaves, Zac calls Gary after about the FBI investigation, perhaps hinting he’s invested some money with Gary. Say it ain’t so Zac.
Sabrina and Rich need to talk
Rich shows up at the bank to talk to Sabrina about her wanting kids and him leaving after she passed out, but they have to talk later since Sabrina’s nosy boss is pressing her. After the salon opening, Sabrina visits Rich at his juice bar to resume their conversation. Sabrina tells Rich she’s wanted to be a mom ever since she was a kid. As an older brother with a lot of siblings, nieces and nephews, he values his freedom. Since they like each other, they agree to continue seeing each other. We’ll see how long this lasts. It’s never a good thing to consider compromising on something you really want, especially something that big.
Andi caught in the crossfire
To end the episode, one of the law firm partners, Mr. Leland, comes into Andi’s office and talks about how her “dealings” with Gary, and her sleazy ways, have put the firm in a compromising position. But before he can talk to the board, he has a heart attack in Andi’s office.
