The investigation against Tariq and the Tejadas mounts and Brayden discovers a big secret. Here’s our Power Book II Ghost Season 3 Episode 7 review.
As more dark secrets come to light, the stakes are getting even higher for almost every character. Webs of lies are beginning to unravel and whole new secrets are being revealed.
The Tejadas are still dealing with the fallout from the war with the Russians. Monet (Mary J Blige) calls a “family” meeting. Where Cane is Monet’s enforcer, Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) is her thinking and strategist. Unfortunately, Tariq is still a little sour with Cane over Lauren (Paige Hurd)’s supposed murder. Tariq’s plan is to reveal the Russians’ shipment to Tate so he can tip the police, get credit, and gain in the poles.
But Tariq has other problems to deal with as he tries to get him and Lauren out of their mess while trying to win her trust. Before she has a chance to testify, Tariq plays Lauren a recording that proves he wasn’t behind her murder. She also reveals to Tariq where Saxe’s allegiances lie.
Meanwhile, Monet talks to Dru (Lovell Adams-Gray) about his relationship with Gordo Castillo (Erik Hernandez) and the fact he has Gordo whipped. Dru is giddy and hopes he can have a future with him. Unfortunately, after Dru learns Gordo may have had something to do with Lorenzo (Berto Colon)’s death, he has a dilemma on his hands.
Monet has her hands full as she tries to get Cai (Sean Nelson) on their side against the Russians. Monet and Cane (Woody McClean) visit Cai at his club but things don’t go as planned.

Unfortunately, things aren’t going well for Diana Tejada (LaToya Tonodeo) either. Salim Ashe Freeman (Petey McGee) appears at the talent show to spit a poem and get Diane to forgive him, but she wasn’t feeling it. In return, he threatens to go public with what he knows about her. She did some digging and blackmails him after she finds information about his past. Just when it seems the coast is clear, Diana finds herself in even more hot water.
Meanwhile, Brayden and Keke are still sleeping together, but she reveals that she’s onto his and Tariq’s drug operation. During a late night at the office Brayden finds some sketchy things going on in the basement of Weston Holdings. After doing some digging he discovers Weston Holdings has some shady business practices.
Finally, Saxe (Shane Johnson) and Davis (Method Man) meet with his brother Theo to prep him for parole hearing. Saxe finds a dirty parole board member to get Theo off, which he does. But things between the brothers are a little tense.
Meanwhile, the RICO investigation Cop and Jenny Sullivan (Paton Ashbrook), Sergeant Rodriguez (Monique Gabriela Curnen) are mounting against Tariq and the Tejadas is mounting.
This episode does a good job of humanizing characters like Dru Tejada, who is giddy in love, and Davis who is excited about his brother being free, adding depth to those characters. The episode may also lead to fans being disappointed in other characters as whole new schemes and storylines are revealed. Just when you think the story can’t get anymore dark and complication every episode outdoes the previous one by added another layer of deception.
It’s clear seven episodes in that Tariq is dealing with situations far greater than his father ever did and has a level of intellect beyond both his mother and father. He is the kind of character you may not always want to root for, but you have no choice but to respect.
