Toronto artists Cocanina and One Don team up to keep the summer vibes coming with their new reggae track “Fold”.
Summer is prime time for reggae and dancehall. Now, two Toronto artists looking to bring the vibes to the August heat. Cocanina’s ability to create a sultry and catchy track blossoms on “Fold” featuring One Don.
It’s no surprise she harnesses her musical talents so effortlessly with her inspiration coming from artists such as Lauryn Hill, Eartha Kitt, The Notorious B.I.G, 50 Cent and Erykah Badu. She prides herself on her diversity of genres and the fact she’s garnered attention from leading media platforms and given the opportunity to write for Rihanna shows she has a right to flex. However, despite her successes, Cocanina has only been actively pursuing her music career for the past three years.
One Don and Cocanina share an exquisite collaboration on the new track which they handpicked to be their first release of many together. Cocanina welcomes the listener into the track with a sultry yet assertive flow and One Don compliments her by entering with a melodic verse to refresh the song at the perfect time. While lyrics in popular music today can be repetitive and basic, on “Fold” the chorus is fresh and unique as Cocanina sings, “Now come make me make my body fold” which hooks the listener.
To add more appeal, the song is ideal for any moment. While it’s easy to picture “Fold” fitting seamlessly into a party or club movie scene, it’s also great for any listener chilling with friends or craving some car karaoke. The motion and flow of the song are palpable to the point it becomes impossible not to move.
After listening to “Fold” it’s hard to not hit replay or get excited over hearing more of Cocanina and One Don. Cocanina plans to continue exploring her femininity musically with her upcoming releases. This songstress’s music embraces such confidence, warmth and boldness in every note, rare commodities nowadays.
