Toronto rapper and global icon, Drake, is set to team up with Smith Falls-based Canopy Growth on a brand new cannabis venture, More Life Growth Company, borrowing from his 2017 release of the same name. This is Drake’s first foray into the cannabis business and Canopy Growth’s second partnership with a rap icon after their collaboration with Canopy Growth shareholder Snoop Dogg.

In an official release, the company stated the partnership will be “centred around wellness, discovery and overall personal growth with the hope of facilitating connections and shared experiences across the globe”.

Under terms of the agreement, Drake will retain 60% interest in the Toronto-based company while Canopy will retain 40% interest.

In a statement, the 6 God stated, “The opportunity to partner with a world-class company like Canopy Growth on a global scale is really exciting. The idea of being able to build something special in an industry that is ever growing has been inspiring. More Life and More Blessing.”

Licensed by Health Canada for the cultivation, processing and sale of cannabis, included in the plans are a production facility in Scarborough, Ontario. Canopy Growth will oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance of the More Life facility and will retain rights to distribute More Life products.

Mark Zekulin, CEO of Canopy Growth, is equally excited about the partnership with the Canadian superstar.

“When we first began talks with Drake we were extremely inspired by and aligned with his vision to bring best-in-class cannabis products to the world. Drake’s perspective as a culture leader and entrepreneur combined with Canopy Growth’s breadth of cannabis knowledge will allow our new company to bring an unmatched cannabis experience to global markets. All in all, we couldn’t be more excited to partner with Drake to bring his vision for the More Life Growth Company to global cannabis markets. We anticipate a long, successful, and mutually beneficial working relationship.”
