Deflare Beats closes Welcome To My City trilogy with East Side Freestyle featuring Mesko, Hueso, Tweezy, Hunnid P, Rammzy and Dirty.
Ottawa hip-hop producer, Deflare Beats, recently capped his three-part Welcome To My City series with the release of “East Side Freestyle”. A follow up to “South Side Freestyle” and “West Side Freestyle”, the song features a melodic drill beat produced by Deflare Beats, Moreno and Jburna.
Included on the track are a roster of artists from east Ottawa neighbourhoods like Murray, Sandy Hill, Overbrook, and Orleans, including Mesko, Hueso, Tweezy, Hunnid P, Rammzy and Dirty.
Similar to other songs in the series, “East Side Freestyle” came with a music video shot by Fenti Films and directed by both Fenti and Deflare. It follows a similar theme using Google Earth to transport viewers to the next neighbourhood where we see the artist spitting their verse with a mic stand. With a beat change comes a change in mood as the aesthetic quickly turns to black and white.
With the series, not only does Deflare Beats takes his place as not only a producer and community builder in an Ottawa hip-hop scene sometimes held back by inter-neighbourhood street politics, but as a rising Canadian talent to watch.
Next up for the young producer is a new single and music video with Yung Tory off his upcoming project which he recently teased on Instagram so stay tuned.
