Afrobeats star, Davido, recently brought his “5ive Alive” North American Tour to Toronto. SHIFTER’s Rahmel Garvey called it “electrifying” in his Davido concert review.
The King of Afrobeat, Davido, delivered an electrifying performance at a sold‑out Scotiabank Arena in Toronto as part of his “5ive Alive” North American Tour and in celebration of his fifth studio album, 5ive.
Performing to a sold-out crowd of nearly 20,000, the Nigerian superstar delivered an extremely high-energy, emotionally charged performance with a setlist of over 39 songs that celebrated Afrobeats culture and global music unity, but also reminded us of the depth of his music catalogue.
The evening kicked off with opening sets from rising local talents BOUF and Taena who each brought their own sound and energy to the stage, warming up the crowd with a blend of Afro-fusion, hip-hop, and melodic storytelling. There was also a surprise guest performance to help open the show, rising Afrobeats star Victony took the stage performing a slew of hits that got the crowd anxiously excited in anticipation for the main act.

Taking the stage shortly after 10 pm, Davido started the show with material from his latest album 5ive. Songs like “10 Kilo”. “Be There Still”, and the soulful “Offa Me” featuring Victoria Monét echoed through the building as fans screamed along to every word and translated beautifully in an energy packed atmosphere.. He moved seamlessly between his latest and greatest hits and some fan favourites from some of his older projects. Showing his versatility as both a performer and vocalist.
Throughout the show, Davido kept the surprises coming. The Toronto crowd erupted when he brought out special guest and Dancehall Icon, Popcaan, to perform their smash hit “Risky” and Omah Lay to perform their hit song off the album With You, each adding their own flavor and energy to the already exciting night. The chemistry on stage was undeniable, and it felt like a true celebration of musical brotherhood reaching across different genres.

Visually, the show production was top-tier, with vibrant lighting, choreographed dancers, and a massive LED backdrop that matched the energy of each track. Davido commanded the stage effortlessly, from start to finish.
Closing out the show with a fan-favorite and global anthem “UNAVAILABLE” off of his Timeless album reminded the audience that he is here to stay and there is reason why he is in the position he is in as the reigning king of Afrobeat.
Toronto witnessed more than just a concert. It was a cultural celebration, a love letter to the fans, and a triumphant reminder of Davido’s global influence in the music industry.
