It’s been a busy year for Shamier Anderson and Stephan James. Back in January, the Scarborough-raised brothers announced the launch of the Black Academy awards to celebrate the accomplishments of Black talent in Canada. Produced by Insight Productions, the ceremony is set to air next fall on CBC under a multi-year deal.
Then in February, the brothers, alongside younger brother and Chief Executive Officer Sheldon James, launched Bay Mills Investment Group, a private equity that supports and invests in young BIPOC entrepreneurs.
Now, Shamier Anderson and Stephan James have launched their third venture of the year with their new production company, Bay Mills Studios, named after the Scarborough neighbourhood that raised them.
Today, it was announced that Bay Mills Studios has inked a new first-look deal with Boat Rocker, an independent, global entertainment company. Under the new deal, Bay Mills Studios will produce original television content for Boat Rocker.
“Shamier and Stephan are true creative forces,” said David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg, Co-Executive Chairmen, Boat Rocker Media and Co-Chairmen, Boat Rocker Studios. “As actors, producers, business leaders and activists, they are breaking new ground and achieving new heights. Everybody at Boat Rocker is thrilled to be partnering with them as they embark on telling the stories they want to tell to the world. Stephan’s and Shamier’s unabating energy and enthusiasm combined with their talent and creativity make the potential behind this venture truly special.”
