Canadian artist Jaioftherise finds catharsis from a relationship turned sour on new single “Toxic”.
“You need people like me. You need people like me so you can point your f***in’ fingers and say, “That’s the bad guy.” This quote was declared by the iconic protagonist of “Scarface”, Tony Montana. While the world may love these “bad-guys”, Jaioftherise is tired of being painted as one. In his new track, “Toxic”, Jai chooses to express his feelings about a one-sided love dilemma.
“Music is therapy to me. I went to the studio with the intention to let out the toxicity with this one.” stated Jai. Despite the love someone had for Jaioftherise, he could never love them back. Working through remorse and vulnerability, Jai uses catchy melodies to help us dive into his situation. This track has a murky, foggy trap production which is perfect to serenade the toxic portrait this song paints. The energy “Toxic” radiates is a dark and lustful one. One that makes listeners connect through guilty pleasures and the slight delight in obsession and toxicity.
As the word “Toxic” itself and mental health awareness have been at the forefront of today’s media, Jaioftherise did more than enough to shed light on the reality of modern relationships. While “Toxic” may be clearly about toxicity, Jaioftherise and his team created a filter where fans can vent about their problems. This filter emulates a therapy session and Jai hopes this will help normalize these emotions. Undoubtedly, Jai is a very expressive artist, even his Instagram profile is sprouting with technicolor and has an abundance of updates on new releasesm including a new COLORS performance.
Jaioftherise even states on his social platforms that this track is for those on the naughty list this year, if that may be you, you should check this one out.
