SVLM returns with latest single Hesi. It’s his first new material since he released his surprise album Out Of The Blue back in March.
Just in time for the province of Ontario to re-open and ease restrictions just a little bit, Ottawa hip-hop artist, SVLM, returns with his latest single “Hesi”, a bouncy and base heavy summer smash worthy of being blasted with the windows down and the sunroof open. The record marks his first new material since the release of his surprise album Out Of The Blue back in March.
No doubt, fans of the genre bending artist will immediately notice something different about this single. Earlier this year, SVLM took to Instagram to tease a brand new direction for his music and that new vibe is in full display on “Hesi” as he sets aside his signature vocals for a moment, taking fans back to his roots as a rapper and lyricist.
To the knowledgeable sports fan, “Hesi” (short for hesitation) is a basketball reference with platinum producer Blasian Beats (Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Gunna, NBA Youngboy) and engineer Carde Blanche rounding out the Big 3 on the track. Together, the Ottawa trio have crafted the perfect summer anthem with heavy 808s and bouncy and clean percussion guaranteed to make fans want to get up and dance.
The basketball references continue with the art work featuring a bull, a nod to the GOAT himself, Michael Jordan, who SVLM channels on the track as he tells the world he has everything he needs and is confident and at peace with his place in the game, while demanding attention from his audience and respect from his peers.
“I am happy with where I am at, but I strive to exceed all expectations with every release”, he explains. “I started off a rapper, so this record is to prove to myself that that part of me is only getting better; that I really can smash out a hip-hop record without sacrificing all the other things I like about making music. I wanted to show the world that I can do whatever I put my mind to.”
According to the artist himself, he’s a man on a mission and has a lot of music in the stash so stay tuned.
“I got a lot of records coming out in the near future that will do just that. Shit…I love pop music so I might fuse hip-hop and pop in the coming months, but for now I wanted to showcase the rap and give my audience something that’s going to make them hungry…something that says, ‘Get it by any means necessary.'”
“Hesi” is available on all major streaming platforms. Click the header above to check it out.
