Fresh off of wowing crowds at Manifesto in Toronto and Cranium in Ottawa with her signature soulful voice and dance choreography, Mississauga-based R&B artist Liyah has dropped her debut project Forevaliyah.
The seven song project features strong, soulful and polished vocals from the young artist, on top of equally strong production. Her sound is a throwback to that good old 90’s R&B, featuring upbeat tracks like “What Would You Do” and more laid back traditional R&B vibes like “Good Loving” and “Next Room”. She even offers listeners a little bop in “Usual” featuring fellow Toronto area artist “Tia Bank$.
Closing out the EP are previously released singles “Slide”, the Mariah Carey inspired bop with over 82K streams to date, and “Always There” with an impressive 511K streams in its own right.
The talented artist, who writes her own music, discovered her love for singing at five years old and honed her talents singing with her church choir.
“Ever since I was little music has just been a part of me―always playing in the house, always listening to music. So it’s always been with me”, she explains on the intro.
The EP is also the debut project for Nycesound Production, founded by Toronto producer T-Nyce, who signed Liyah as their first artist earlier this year. If their first offering is any indication, they have the talent and sound to leave their mark on the Canadian music scene for years to come.
