About Desarae Dee
SHIFTER’s Artist of the Month for March is Toronto multi-instrumentalist, Desarae Dee. Dubbed “Toronto’s Fusion Pianist” by BUZZMUSICLA, she is widely known for her unconventional and spontaneous playing style. Often compared to the likes of Robert Glasper, she has the unique ability to fuse together many musical styles while creating unique, unusual chord structures and powerful melodic lines, which has given her the range to share the stage with some of Toronto’s biggest and brightest stars. Simultaneously giving you everything you need to hear and something you’ve never heard before, Desarae captures your attention within seconds of listening to her music. She stands against the rest, with her both ambient and driving sounds that transcend expectations and create an almost otherworldly atmosphere.
Since her debut as an artist in 2014, she has released three EPs and 15 singles with radio play on various Canadian and American radio stations. Her music has landed on multiple Spotify playlists, and has been featured in multiple music blogs such as BUZZMUSICLA, Big/Sound Blog, Fresh: Hip-Hop & RnB, Bitter Lip Media, just to name a few. She was a featured musical artist on YESTV’s Outside The Box with Sheldon Neil and was a headliner for Canadian Music Week and Sofar Sounds Toronto. Her musical gift and strong work ethic has afforded her the opportunity to work with international artists MattB and NAACP & Stellar Award Winner, Sean C. Johnson.

Find something that is worth sharing and that your audience will connect with that will make them come back for more. Most important, be an IMPACT. Who are you inspiring? Who are you influencing?
