Jordayla walks down the aisle and Spencer gets some good news he was waiting for. Here’s our All American Season 6 Episode 13 recap.
Dreams do come true on an all new episode of All American. Jordan gets his girl as Jordayla exchange vows and Spencer gets an important phone call that will change his life. Many fans were upset since Spencer was snubbed at the NFL Draft during last week’s episode. Some vowed to not tune in this week so the almost series/season finale (before the last two episodes were ordered by the CW).
Let’s see if the showrunner and writers were able to redeem themselves.
Spencer undrafted – The Aftermath
The episode opens with the aftermath of the draft. The James family, including Liv and Eric the agent, are at the house listening to an audio recording of Spencer talking to the other players at the combine about what the process of being drafted is like, and changes that need to be made to the system. The recording was leaked and coaches didn’t like what they heard. Spencer is being punished for speaking the truth. Eric had known about it all day, but didn’t share the news. He says he was protecting Spencer. Spencer allows that to sink in and realizes this might be it for his dreams, but in true supportive fashion Mama Grace and Liv remind him who he is and that there are still options. They share a nice moment as they join hands and say the Serenity Prayer together.
Pre-wedding gifts
The next morning Jordan is at the Baker house looking for his custom linen shirt when Layla walks in. It’s their wedding day so they try not to look at each other but use the time to check in. Layla admits that while she’s ready to marry Jordan, she is missing her mother. Jordan asks Spencer to officiate the wedding as a comfort to Layla stating he’s a gift to the family. Later, Laura gives Layla a precious and thoughtful gift to remind Layla that her mother is with her. Liv returns Jordan’s custom shirt with an upgrade that reminds him that Billy is always with him. These gifts were thoughtful and were a hit with fans who loved every minute of the pre-wedding gift giving.
Wedding guests arrive
Everyone is in town for the wedding. Carter and Dillon are checking in on Spencer post draft. Carter offers some fatherly advice about marriage and Spencer and Dillon have a brotherly moment about leaving Crenshaw yet never forgetting their hometown or selling their property. GW is present giving his approval of Luke for Laura and encouraging Jordan to embrace change. JP also returns to walk Layla down the aisle.
Jordayla’s wedding
The wedding is a beautiful moment for the Vortex to reminisce and send their friends off to their next phase of life. Spencer’s words help Jordayla to embrace love and what comes next. At the reception, Patience uses the time to share an upcoming opportunity with Coop who, at first, makes the news about herself, but later, she expresses her support for Patience since Patience has supported her over the years. Liv also finds out that she is on the way to becoming a bestselling author.
Spelivia’s moment
While Asher finds the words for his best man’s speech, the moment is interrupted by the call that changes Spencer’s life. We finally see Spencer drafted to the NFL! The episode ends with a 10-month time jump with Spencer playing in the Superbowl. He scores big on and off the field with a surprise ending that has all Spelivia lovers crying tears of joy (okay, maybe not all are crying, but definitely grinning from ear to ear).
Final thoughts
Tonight’s episode was a culmination of all the things fans were waiting for. We see touching moments between the Baker twins, the James brothers, Laura and Layla, Laura and Grace hugging Spencer, and the Vortex as a whole. Let me say it again Daniel Ezra as Spencer James is perfect. He had me experiencing every emotion tonight. Also shout out to writer Jamie Turner who always brings storylines together in a way that’s fulfilling to the viewer and director Avi Youabian for giving us these beautiful moments. I’m excited to see what comes next!
All American returns Monday, July 8th at 8pm on the CW.
