Olivia sets Ashely straight and Asher rekindles his dream. Here’s our All American Season 6 Episode 7 recap.
It’s New Year’s Eve on All American. Christmas time has come and gone and the gang’s all back to ring in the New Year.
Spencer’s growth
We open with Spencer and Olivia catching up on their time away and Spencer has clearly read her book and is beaming with pride over his girl’s work. His call is interrupted by a small press conference where Mac is hyping Jordan as the leader of the team. You can see the growth in Spencer because he seems so calm after Jordan apologizes for the press conference not including him. Jordan quickly goes into how Layla’s mental health is concerning to him and Spencer encourages him to talk to her.
Patience’s plan for revenge
Patience is having a rough morning after learning that while Miko is still out there, they also haven’t found out who vandalized Layla’s club. Patience feels like she’s being blamed for everything that has happened while Miko walks free. She decides to take matters into her own hands but is stopped by Preach and Coop.
Asher’s dream
Asher wakes up from a dream where he’s suited up in a football uniform and ready to get in the game again. He’s worried about what it means but then shares that his heart is stronger and he’s been cleared to play football. He takes to the field to run some drills with his team and is surprised by his better half, Jaymee, who’s not happy with him apparently risking his life. She later confronts him about putting his life at risk and not considering his family. Asher swears he’s only thinking about them and doesn’t want AJ to give up on his own dreams when hit with setbacks.
GAU’s big win
The playoff game is also a big deal but because of his behaviour last game, Spencer is out for the first half. As a result, Mac is forging ahead with Jordan as lead to the team. Unfortunately, Jordan can’t seem to get his head in the game. Spencer wants to give advice from the sidelines but, of course, Mac’s not hearing it. Olivia reminds Spencer who he is and at halftime he tells the team what play should be called. The second half of the game is redeemed and GAU is off to Nationals against Asher and Coastal. To celebrate, Liv suggests, foregoing their date and throwing a taco party for the team at the beach house. Spencer is determined to ring in the New Year with his girl but distractions at the party slow their plans.
Layla’s health
Jordan is distracted and frustrated with Layla choosing to get off her meds and the two don’t see eye to eye. Layla is feeling pressured to make choices about her health that she’s not fully okay with. She really wants to do what’s right for her. Jordan is trying to support her in the best possible way but just needs to listen. Layla realizes she needs to include him in her plans as they continue to plan life together.
Dillon’s growing up
There are some big changes in the James household as Dillon is accepted to an arts school in Boston. Dillon wants Spencer to convince their mom to let him go on his own, but Grace and Dillon come to a compromise.
Ashley’s true feelings
Last, but definitely not least, Ashley pops up to build a wedge and profess his true feelings for Liv. Liv shuts it down, sets him straight and sends him packing, allowing Spelivia to ring in the New Year together in all their cuteness.
Big shout out to Jamie Turner who wrote the episode. Spelivia fans everywhere are thankful for you tonight!
All American airs Mondays at 8pm on the CW.
