The girls hold an intervention with Danni and Maurice confronts Que. Here’s our review of Tyler Perry’s Sistas Season 5 Episode 22.
The season finale of Sistas leaves many questions unanswered while opening new storylines surrounding characters like Aaron, aka “John”, and Maurice. While Maurice spent most of the season off camera while in jail, it appears he will be getting a lot of screen time next season. Meanwhile, Aaron, who has been presented as the perfect preacherman is being set up for a type of fall from grace as we see more of his dark side. Season five prioritized the evolution of the character of Fatima and the telling of her backstory, and it appears Aaron might be getting the same treatment in season six.
Unfortunately, some storylines were glossed over rather quickly this episode which was disappointing, while others, including Danni and Zatima, who are going into season two of their spinoff, were front and centre.
When it comes to the tone, at times the finale had the feel of a theatre production, with its over the top drama and emotion packed monologues, which isn’t surprising given Tyler Perry’s theatre roots.
Let’s take a closer look at what went down.
Fatima and the “Little Bastard”
Fatima casually denies her “little bastard” which has Zac beside himself losing his mind. In the end, it turned out to be Fatima being Fatima as she was playing a joke on Zac so he would know how it felt.
Zac stops in at the salon. After a playful moment with Pam, he goes into the back to talk to Karen and apologize for what happened at the restaurant. Unfortunately, Karen isn’t having it. She refuses to sign the papers and asks him to leave.
Later, Fatima has arranged for Heather to come over to the house to talk to Zac about child support. Turned off by how thirsty she is, he asks for weekends with his son as a part of the settlement. Heather accepts his offer of $2000 per month.
John and the mystery woman
Aaron, aka John, continues his blow up with the mystery woman outside the salon. He apologized profusely and says the woman is obsessed with him and that he’ll explain soon.
Maurice is fed up
Maurice apologizes for the insults he directed at Calvin last episode. After being reduced to drinking out of plastic cups, Maurice decides to go get his and Calvin’s stuff. Calvin tries to talk him out of it, but Maurice is fed up.
Later, Maurice meets up with Que at the airport. He asks Que for his stuff, but Que says he didn’t steal it. After asking for his keys, they end up in a struggle. Maurice gets in a few shots and after they continue to struggle, the gun goes off leaving us to wonder who got shot.
Gary and Hayden win
It’s after 5pm and Gary and Hayden are celebrating their win over Robyn as he hasn’t shown up with the money. Gary asks Jayden if he’s vetted Tamara, but Hayden says he did. Gary doesn’t seem to believe him. Expect Gary to do his own little investigation into who Tamara is.
Dani’s intervention
The girls meet up at Dani’s house to have intervention for their friend. Andi calls her out on “sleeping with the enemy” aka Que. Dani explains she was trying to have a hot girl summer. Dani is feeling judged.
Karen oddly brings up a college frat party where a group of guys tried to do something bad to Dani. Afterwards they said some things about her that apparently still hurt her today.
Dani comes back at the girls with their own track record―Sabrina cheating on Calvin who owns a vibrator, Andi dating a married man whose wife almost shot her, and Aaron’s wife killing herself in Karen’s salon. This scene is a testament that hurt people hurt people.
They refuse to leave so Dani dips and leaves them there. They plan on waiting until she gets back.
While she’s on the road, Preston calls to see if she can come over and pick up his clothes. She doesn’t believe him and thinks he did it on purpose to see her. She responds she will leave his stuff by the door.
Tweets of the night
I don’t know how Tyler managed to make Danni an even worse and more irrational character than Karen. Rejecting Preston but bringing home Que’s psycho ankle monitoring wearing ass is unhinged. #SistasOnBET pic.twitter.com/ZVBsNwkhXC
