Maurice gets an earful from Sabrina and Danni gets an unexpected guest. Here’s our review of Tyler Perry’s Sistas Season 6 Episode 2.
Tonight’s episode of Tyler Perry’s Sistas was a good one, despite opening with an unnecessary scene. Still, there are good surprises and good storytelling throughout. We also see Hayden, arguably the least liked character on the show, for the first time this season as the Gary, Hayden and Robin storyline is reintroduced.
Karen in trouble
The episode opens with Karen dramatically falling to the floor after breathing in fire at the salon which is ultimately an unnecessary scene. Later, Aaron calls Pam to find Karen. After giving him flack about the mystery woman who caused a scene outside the salon at the end of season five, Pam discovers something went down at the salon. After her character showed growth in season five during Karen’s baby daddy situation, she’s back to being useless and absent minded. It’s a shame because there an opportunity to evolve her character.
Things are complicated for Danni and Andi
We then find Andi driving Danni home from the bar as she expresses the sistas’ love for her, but that they should probably let her live out her own journey. Then the tables turn as Danni questions her about her relationship with Gary.
As Danni returns home, she’s paid an unexpected visit from an unwelcome visitor. Fortunately, Preston shows up uninvited (again) and saves her. He stays the night and explains that Mindy knows he and Danni love each other. When Preston and Danni get up, he finds out the unwanted guest was released from jail and decides to stay with her to keep her safe. Somehow it ends up in a talk about race as Danni pushed him away. Again.
Andi goes home as well to find Gary naked in her bed. Instead of getting some loving in the sheets, Gary gets a talk about his attempts to get Robin out of the law firm (as well as a spot on the couch).
The Fatima and Zac scene seems to come out of nowhere, but it is a welcomed diversion from the high drama scenes before it. The formerly toxic and high drama Zatima is now a breath of fresh air, providing stability to the show.
When Fatima heads to work, Zac calls Heather and decides to come over to see his supposed son setting up a visit next episode.
Tamara goes rogue
Hayden makes his debut when Gary calls him about Andi knowing about their plan. Gary offers to vet Tamara again, but Hayden doesn’t want to hear it. After calling Fatima, Tamara decides she’s going rogue and getting everything she can from Hayden.
Meanwhile, we find Calvin at Sabrina’s house where he fills her in about Maurice’s altercation with Que at the airport. Although it’s only a matter of time before they end up together, the relationship between Calvin and Sabrina is one of the more drawn out and frustrating storylines as he is consistently strung along.
Just then, Maurice walks in as he gets an earful from Sabrina. Maurice seems to not understand the consequences of his actions. During this episode, Maurice, in all his over-the-top extra-ness, continues to go from one of the more beloved character to one of the more annoying ones.
